Movie Reviews of The King of ComedyMovie Review: MIght be the best contemporary film ever made Summary: 5 Stars
Just get it and watch it. You have probably never seen anything like it, and won't ever again. Creative, quirky, sad, funny, and disturbing, you'll never meet another character like Rupert Pupkin played by Robert DeNiro in his finest, finest, role. Sandra Bernhard is amazing and perhaps the saddest part of the film is realizing what we missed out on by not having the same respect for Jerry Lewis as the French. Don't miss this film.
Movie Review: Love the movie but, Liza Minnelli only appears... Summary: 5 Stars
as a LIFE SIZE CARDBOARD CUT OUT of A PHOTO of "Herself".She's not in the deleted scenes either.Makes me wonder whether her inclusion in the credits as "Herself" was a thank you or a dig on the part of the director. What's even stranger is the current Mr Minnelli's inclusion of this role as one of her film highlights in the liner notes to Liza's Back.Did he even see the picture?
Movie Review: Finally The King Has Arrived Summary: 5 Stars
The King Of Comedy is probably the best movie ever to deal with not only the world of comedy, but the media obssed world in which we all live in. The King Of Comedy should be giving the Oscar for best picture because these dumb as critics have there heads up there (). God bless The King Of Comedy, may it always be there for us in a media obsesed society
Movie Review: Dark and funny Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of the weirdest movies I've ever seen and I love it. It is almost painful to watch, Robert De Niro's character, Rupert Pupkin, is a loser and totally unaware of it. I also think the movie was ahead of its time, it came out 20 years ago and star stalking wasn't as big a thing as it is now. I highly recommend this movie.
Movie Review: Who Needs Material! Summary: 5 Stars
Give De Niro a pair of deuces and he'll win the hand. An amazing performance that starts with cardboard, tacks and tape, finally flies a few feet like the Spruce Goose, and it was all worth waiting for. Much credit to director Scorsese for the way-too-real biz people and the big wet one from Sandra Bernhard.
