Movie Reviews of The Karate Kid II

Movie Review: The 80's tradition comes back
Summary: 5 Stars

I should be considered an expert on this film but I'm not going to claim it. Right now I'm in Kyoto Japan and I am Japanese-American. So this movie has a very special meaning to me. I saw it when I was very little and loved every minute of it. I was always asking my mom if certain things were correct or if the Japanese was correct.
Albeit now the Japanese Slang is a bit old and the issues are a bit ancient (not to also mention most of the movie was filmed in Pat Morita's home state of Hawaii). This movie still speaks to me.
I like it better than the first and truthfully I think whether it's better or not is just a state of opinion not actual quality. I just think the second one speaks to me more than the first. I wasn't the skinny outcast being picked on in high school.
However, I recommend seeing both the first and second not only because of the messages relayed within about honor, respect, love, and the bond between an aged fisherman and a kid from New Jersey, but also because these movies have some of the greatest one liners ever!
"Daniel-san nobody perfect."
Check them out and see what I mean. Relive the 80's and come back to the depressing reality TV era.
BTW I'm reviewing the Japanese DVD. They just remade all the movies here on DVD for about $15 each. So I'm picking these up.

Movie Review: Could be the best Karate Kid movie out of all 3!
Summary: 5 Stars

Daniel Larusso travels with Mr. Miagi to Oki Nawa in Japan in order to check on his father, who is very ill. When they return, they are received by Sato, who wants to fight with Mr. Miago in order to defend his honor. He got dishonoured when Miyagi fell in live with his girlfriend before he decided to escape to the US. On the other side, his nephew Chozan is bullying Daniel all the time. He is such a great Karate fighter.

Great movie!

I like it because it represents the real purpose of Karate, which is self defence.
There are no tournaments to compete in. It's about surviving.
The only thing I think could have been done to improve the movie was to give Daniel actual Karate lessons before making this movie. His moves are not convincing at all. They are weak and incorrect sometimes. People who do martial arts could immediately recognize the flaws in his techniques. Johny from Part 1 and Chozan from Part II are way better than him, in which Daniel surprisingly still managed to defeat them.

Anyway, the Karate Kid could easily be one of the best movies of our times.

Movie Review: The Glory of Good FUN !
Summary: 5 Stars

Making this happy if sappy sequel to THE KARATE KID quite appealing are the timeless, immutable qualities carried, generation to generation, to and through every human heart: Love; Forgiveness; Mercy; Compassion; Remorse and other good, great from age to age, emotions. Daniel's Antagonist does as effective a job of rousing the deep, powerful and positive feelings from within him - and us - as does that of Mr. Miyagi's. If plot devices such as the bamboo rattles and farcical final confrontation with a Bully able to have already killed Daniel, DEAD, look trite, remember they exist to give us a brief glimpse into a refined, advanced culture flourishing millennia before ours. Keep in mind that condemning KARATE KID part 2 for so-called "silly" elements within is, in fact, far from as disgusting and tasteless as any of the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE "movies". My bottom line being, KARATE KID part 2 is Super Stuff ! Rent (or buy) it today !

Movie Review: The Karate Kid II
Summary: 5 Stars

It's summer, Daniel just broke up with his girlfriend and was told by his mother that her job needs her to move to Fresno for the summer which Daniel doesn't like. Mr. Miyagi was going to let Daniel stay with him until he receives a letter from Okinawa telling him that his father is dying. So Miyagi leaves to go there and Daniel joins him. Miyagi tells Daniel that the reason he left Okinawa was because his best friend, Sato whose family is the most affluent in Okinawa, was promised Yukie whose the girl Miyagi loved. So Miyagi asks her to run away with him and when Sato learned of this, he challenged Miyagi to a fight to the death. So Miyagi left. Upon arriving Miyagi discovers Sato still wants to fight him and his nephew and best student Chozen has it out for Daniel. This movie is set in the beautiful backdrop of Okinawa, and the scenery is also beautiful. I recommend viewing both The Karate Kid, and the sequel to at least get the full effect.

Movie Review: BETTER THAN THE FIRST!!
Summary: 5 Stars

i don't get some of you reviewers. some of you people really are the definition of a wannabe film student reject. people critique this film like it's suppose to be Citizen Kane. What's wrong with you?! this film had heart and was exceptionally poetic!! I hadn't watched this film in 20 years and before i watched it again, i read some of the reviews on here giving negative feedback and the whole time while i watched the movie i was thinking "what the hell is wrong with this movie? it's full of nothing but heart and emotion!!" I love the first film but the sequel really dives into the relation ship between mr. myagi and daniel. the scene when daniel is comforting myagi after his father dies was brilliantly acted and directed. i nearly cried! this film has a lot of culture in it too. you negative reviewers don't have a clue!
