Movie Reviews of The InvisibleMovie Review: Awful in EVERY possible way! Summary: 1 StarsSave your money, Save your time - this movie is not worth a moment of anyone's time. I'm all for supernatural thrillers, mystery murder dramas, etc...but this movie is just bad - poorly acted, scenes are so over-dramatic, it's just so far-fetched. I rarely give out reviews, I rarely give one star as a rating but this movie surely deserves it.
Movie Review: It should have ended with London!! Summary: 2 StarsThe premise was great and the movie seemed to start out strong, Margarita Levieva was awfully cute as the tough girl, and the first few repartees were snappy... but 30 minutes into the movie it felt like mad editors had run amok! Suddenly, none of the characters decisions made any sense... (or mattered!!) and who wants to root for a poorly developed character!! Seriously... the movie would have gotten another star if Justin had just used the ticket to London!! (Obviously... you would have to watch the movie to understand that - but... it's not worth it)
I cannot and do not recommend!! Go watch Chumscrubber instead :)
All the best,
Jay
Movie Review: Not Good Summary: 2 StarsI expected The Invisible to be bad, because theatrical horror movies have always been horrible, with a few exceptions. But The Invisible was just ridiculous. I thought the concept was good, but it was just poorly played out, which is a shame because based on the concept of life after death on earth, it had potential to be good. It's a shame. Rent it first if you really want to, but you have been warned.
Movie Review: Pretty good for a teen flick... Summary: 4 StarsRedemption for past deeds is something that is dear to my heart. And the funny thing is, I really don't know why.
Maybe because I like to believe that there is good in pretty much everyone and someone atoning for wrong-doings, well there are few things that I like to see more than this.
Also, as the old saying goes, you can never judge a book by its cover. When you see a person, do you always judge them by the way they look or dress? Do you automatically assume, for example, if you see a man dressed in biker clothes that he's a criminal?
See, when it comes down to it, you can't judge a book by its cover. There is typically more to something than meets the eye. What if that person you see dressed like a biker just happens to be a real estate agent out for a ride, enjoying himself?
It can happen.
Take what you consider to be your typical young street thug. Dressed and acts tough, but what are the reasons behind the way they act? What is their home life like? Maybe, just maybe they're committing crimes not out of greed but the need to survive or take care of someone else?
Of course, these examples are just that, examples.
Anyhow, the movie the Invisible deals with both of these topics.
A young man named Nick, ready to graduate from High school lives with his widowed mother. She's domineering, and has pretty much planned out his life for him.
The upside is that he wants pretty much for naught. He has friends, and appears that he's respected by his peers.
Enter a young troubled girl named Annie. She's in and out of trouble with the law and is expelled regularly from School. Somehow she's managed to get a couple of the local tough's working along with her.
Throw in a friend of Nick's who owes Annie money for merchandise that he purchased from her.
Things get ugly and fast. Nick ends up getting framed for something that he didn't do and Annie takes it out on him. Nick is left for dead and then things get even more complicated.
Nick returns as a ghost. The twist is that he's not dead, not yet. He only has a limited time before his body does die, and somehow he has to find away to interact with the living world to make this happen.
He can see, feel and initially it appears that he can interact with the world around him, but he quickly discovers that when he changes something, the very next moment it's back to normal.
The problem is that after a while, the only one who seems to be able to hear him is the very person who left him for dead. The young street thug named Annie.
Here we have what I was talking about. Nick seems like the perfect young man, but he has a darker, a seedier side, albeit minor, where as Annie looks like a pure criminal who doesn't care about anyone or anything, and doesn't give a damn what her actions - rash actions - end up costing her.
For your average Teen movie, the acting was pretty good. I felt anger towards the characters, and sympathy as well. Also, it gives a glimpse into the lives of people, showing the viewer that things are not always as they appear on the surface.
Maybe as I grow older, I'm no longer able to control my emotions the way did in my younger years. Who knows.
Still, I enjoyed the movie.
There weren't too many additional features, just 13 minutes of deleted scenes that helped advance the plot a little, but most of these were nothing more than filler. There were also a pair of music videos to watch.
The soundtrack had a lot of music on it that I personally like, preferring rock to pop. It featured songs by A Perfect Circle, Snow Patrol and Remy zero.
There were a couple of glaring errors in continuity, but as usual, nothing that really detracted from my overall enjoyment of this flick. Shame that I didn't catch it in the Theater.
Finally, the ending was well shot and quite emotional. Another reason I enjoyed the movie.
4 out of 5.
Movie Review: boring, no-one to care about Summary: 1 StarsWell, actually, you feel kind of bad for the kid brother. But you don't care about anyone else. Boring, implausible, etc.
