Movie Reviews of The Inheritance

Movie Review: Not always the same
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a wonderful story and worthy to be seen many times over. However, our daughter has this movie, which we've seen several times, but the one I purchased through Amazon, was NOT the same as what our daughter had. She got hers through Feature Films for Families. The difference? The one our daughter has is free of foul language, whereas the one we purchased contains foul language. We've been told that Feature Films for Families takes good movies and "cleans them up." The story is good, but for families, it is too bad that the "original" movie contains some things which are objectionable to some people.

Movie Review: Predictable but fun period piece.
Summary: 5 Stars

Tom Conti, as the very amusing father of the family, steals the show for me, but I liked all the acting in this pleasant story about a young lady who serves as companion to the daughter of a wealthy household. Of course, she turns out to be much more than a servant, but Edith's relationship with Mr. Hamilton is so charming, that it warms up the screen whenever they have a scene together. Add Thomas Gibson as the handsome James Percy (an easy role for Gibson, who's always nice to look at) and it's the perfect Cinderella story, complete with evil cousin, instead of stepsister. Great for a rainy day "getaway."

Movie Review: Beautiful Story
Summary: 5 Stars

I fell in love with this film years ago when it premiered on television. I taped it all those years ago and have watched it over and over since then. So much, so that the video tape is nearly worn out. Imagine my delight when I realized that it is available on DVD!

The reasons I loved this film are varied. I'd be lying if I said that Thomas Gibson (as James Percy) wasn't a big draw as I am a huge Thomas Gibson fan. However, it is the gently told love story, story of family and loyalty that remains the true reason why I adore this film so much. The lovely victorian imagery is a definite plus.

Movie Review: Beautiful Film
Summary: 5 Stars

I really enjoyed this film when I saw it on television ten years ago and now that I have it on DVD I have seen it many times. But, a previous reviewer made two factual errors; namely, Mrs. Hamilton is played by Meredith Baxter not "Bridget Birney" (a combination of her former husband's surname "Birney" and the first name of the character she played in 1972 in the television series "Bridget loves Bernie"; second, Thomas Gibson is not Canadian but was born in South Carolina and he has had a very successful career in television and is currently in a series on television "Criminal Minds."

Movie Review: a sweet love story with no icky parts!
Summary: 5 Stars

My college roommates and I used to watch this movie all the time. We had taped it off of television when it originally aired. It was one of our favorite "chick flicks." When it became available to buy, I was so excited, and my roommate and I bought a few copies immediately.
The movie, which is based on a Louisa May Alcott tale, tells a beautiful love story. The young girl in the story comes against terrible odds, but love and her integrity triumph in the end. If you want to see a wondeful love story with no icky partys in it, then buy this today!
