Movie Reviews of The In-LawsMovie Review: The In-Laws Summary: 5 Stars
Arthur Hiller's hilarious spoof (written by the talented Andrew Bergman) is propelled by an ever-escalating series of death-defying comic set-pieces, with Falk the epitome of seasoned nonchalance and Arkin, who up to now has led a quiet, ordered life in Scarsdale, having a series of well-justified nervous breakdowns. Scenes in a fictional banana republic ruled by demented dictator General Garcia (Richard Libertini) are particularly inspired. Ultimately, what makes this comedy sing is the divine chemistry between Falk and Arkin, two comedic pros in their element. Beware the inferior remake.
Movie Review: Why don't more people know how great this movie is? Summary: 5 Stars
When The In-Laws first came out, I fell in love with it. It cracked me up and when I asked other people what they thought of it, nobody seemed to have seen it.Years later, after you would assume more people would've seen it on cable or on VHS, I would get the same reaction... nobody saw it. There is so much to love about this movie. The characters and the plot are just plain silly and there are countless classic moments. It starts out slow, but gets more outrageous as it moves along. If you are a fan of comedies from the Marx Brother's or Three Stooges, this is keeper.
Movie Review: The Bay of Pigs Summary: 5 Stars
Who can forget these classic scenes?: "To Vince, Well at least we tried. Signed John F. Kennedy." "All they had was Hustler in Spanish.....El Hustlero." ".....via the General Garlicimo Highway.....yes, yes sir, it's a very fitting tribute to you sir. Yes, yes, much better than a bridge." And what can only be described as the funniest scene filmed in the 1970's: The pre-takeoff safety demonstration at the Lodi, NJ Executive Airport, in Mandarin. What are they waiting for to release this on DVD?
Movie Review: "The Eagle has landed"... Summary: 5 Stars
...finally on DVD.This movie is "up there" with "Army Of Darkness". It is outragously funny from beginning to end. To best appreciate this move you have to have a pretty dry sense of humor. I won't bother to repeat what the other reviewers have said here, other than that The In-Laws is one of the funniest movies I've seen in my 42 years. There is a remake of this that is going to be released soon, but somehow I'm pretty sure that it will never, ever be as funny as this was, even if the new one has Albert Brooks in it.
Movie Review: Comedy at its Best Summary: 5 Stars
Peter Falk and Alan Arkin are at their comedic best in this film about a CIA operative who involves his son's future father-in-law in a mission to a tropical Latin American Island Country whose dictator makes Idi Amin look like a Rhodes Scholar. This is a movie that I have watched many times over the years and will continue to do so. There are no food fights, sex grundge, profanity or nudity so I don't imagine it will appeal to the brain dead. The story line is ageless as are the actors and the humor is there for the laughing.
