Movie Review: An SM classic
Summary: 3 Stars
This tells the story of a middle aged dominatrix mistress,her much younger submissive girlfriend and a male author who shifts from being an observer to an active participant in proceedings.There are scenes of explicit oral sex,bondage and female urination but in no way could it be regarded as pornography.The movie is set in Paris and makes good use of the local scenery.The acting is of a high standard but there is far too much background narration.Also,the story is told in chapters,as if straight from a book,and this cuts into the flow of the movie.The switching of roles by the dominatrix mistress to becoming submissive with the male author right at the end seemed a most unlikely scenario, given her character part up until then, but otherwise the story was quite plausible.However,I was put off by the whipping scene which was far too protracted and probably reduced my appreciation of the overall quality of this movie.Movie Review: mad man with a whip

first I must add that I had seen "story of o" before i watched this movie. To me it was a big step down from this classis but perhaps it is not fair to try and compare these two. "O" was far more erotic, while the image was more pornographic. Image did have some very intense scenes if you can get past the urination parts, which I did not particular care for. I did not care for the main guy in this movie as he appeared to have as much business making this movie as i did. He gave me the impression of being one out of mental institution. I would have to say he was the doctor giggles of bds&m lifestyle. while the senery was nice, I though the sound effects reminded me of an old clint eastwood movie. I do not prentend to be a gifted writer and as far as recommendation, i would say if you have $20 to blow on a movie then this would be a good deal. I AM NEW TO THE FOREIGN FILM SCENE- SO MAYBE I DONT " GET IT " AND IM NOT ASHAMDED TO ADMIT IT. BUT THIS FILM WAS CLUMSY TO ME AND PUT ME OFF A BIT. IT HAS A VIOLENT MOMENT OR TWO THAT I WAS UNPREPARED FOR. ON THE POSITIVE SIDE- THE ACTRESS ON THE COVER OF THIS DVD THAT IS IN THE FILM- PICTURES CANT CAPTURE HOW REALLY BEAUTIFUL SHE IS. I WAS SOOOO BLOWN AWAY AT HOW " PERFECT " SHE IS. THIS IS WORTH OWNING JUST TO SEE HER FOR YOURSELF. SHE HAS THAT " YOUNG/PURE/I DONT NEED MAKEUP QUALITY ABOUT HER. IF I KNEW OF ANOTHER SHOW SHE WAS IN- I'D BUY IT FOR THAT REASON ALONE. IN MY OPINION- CERTAIN BEAUTIES COME ALONG EVERY EVER SO OFTEN. FARRAH FAWCETT AND JENNIFER ANNISTON COME TO MIND. As reported elsewhere an important element to be added to any collection of Euro-Erotica from the 1970's; although somewhat stale now. The photography and tempo are excellent and well suited to the rather thin storyline. The film begins softly and draws you slowly down into the obvious futility of the situation along with the actors. The climax is startling and very well performed, the ending, well...a let down. I found the narration (voice) of the mail lead a little bothersome and the script as well at times. Perhaps do to the translation from? French, I assume?Otherwise, another well made film from that time period and genre.
Movie Review: I Don't Get It, But I Don't Hate It Either

THE IMAGE is an interesting film about an S&M love triangle. It is beautifully shot and intriguing enough to watch, but I can't say that I'd ever want to watch it again.I think it would have been more interesting without the narration.
I also would have liked to have understood the relationship between Claire and Ann a bit more.
I did not find it shocking as many people suggest that it is. Bizarre, yes. Not shocking.
I have never really been a fan or arty erotic movies or literature but this one really is quite well done.
Perhaps not knowing the motivation is part of the charm
