Movie Reviews of The HuntedMovie Review: Many faces of ninja, mostly white Summary: 2 Stars
I agree with the guys who gave this movie one or 2 stars.
Its a decent movie, but its just one thing that makes me sick to my damn stomach; and thats christopher lambert. For one his terrible acting in this movie and the fact that he played Raiden in the Mortal Kombat movies. WTF, is what I have to say.
Why does hollywood have to use a white man to always be the hero in most movies dedicated to asian or martial arts movies.
I mean come on, Christopher Lambert, with his stupid scratchy voice. If your gonna use a american\white actor, at least use Micheal Dudikof (ok, im joking about that one). But seriously, there are so many movies about ninjas that use a white actor to be the main guy who becomes ninja; i.e. American ninja parts 1-2-3-4etc, hunted, Batman Begins, and whose the guy who played in "blind Fury". haha, what was that about? I bet when the japanese watch our movies they laugh and then puke in disgust. I do.
But there is one good movie out there that does incorporate a white man in a japananese sword figting genre, and thats "the Last Samurai." At least they had a good reason why capt. Algren (played by Tom Cruise) joined and became a Samurai. He was already a soldier in the American army, so he knew about battle strategies, he hated his commander and the way the North was going about killing innocent women and children. And he trained as a Samurai for about 9 months to a year I think in the movie; unlike lambert who trained for 3 days trying to cut a apple in half.
I used to be in the army as an infantry man, and if it were me back in those days, Id be a samurai in a heart beat if I could.
only if we were still fighting samurais, I mean those warriors had class, not like these damn terrorist's were fighting today.
So I give this movie 2 stars, one: because it one of the most recent serious ninja movies, and two: because Takeda is one bad ass mother f****r. The rest just sucks.
Movie Review: The worst ninja movie ever Summary: 1 Stars
I'm surprised Japan didn't commit a second Pearl Harbor after this movie. I'm even more shocked that it has 4.5/5 stars as an Amazon score. What is good about this movie: one character named Takeda, who is an excellent Japanese swordsman and a very likable guy. His personality is smooth and clever. However, he's not the main character. As usual, any American movie made in an Asian country needs a white man to lead the title role. Christopher Lambert's character is a doof who has sex with a hot Asian girl only because she's about to be killed by ninjas and doesn't want to die a virgin...so she picks the first dumb clod in the bar. Unfortunately Chris goes back to her room after the ninjas up 'n kill her, so now he has ninjas on his head. He's eventually put in a hospital with a police guard, but the ninjas kill all the police men. This is because the police men RUN INTO THE NINJAS! Thats right, instead of pulling out their guns and dropping a big black thing standing in the middle of a hospital room, they just run up and get stabbed. It gets better. Mainly, lots of more needless carnage. The ninjas take decide to kill every one in a train to get to Christopher Lambert. Then the final showdown on Takeda's island, which has lots of more needless violence. Takeda is taken out in a very cheap, dumb way. Why do they do this? So Christopher Lambert, who has had only three days of sword training, can take out Japan's top ninja. I guess since he's a white guy, taking out a weak Asian man is easy. At least that's what I get from the script. This movie left me with such aggravation at how BAD it was - not only from the bad storyline, but the constantly needless violence and cliches - that I don't understand why there exist people that like this movie. I wouldn't suggest any one watch this film unless you greatly desire to feel your brain slowly ooze out of your ears.
Movie Review: Sent DVD with wrong region code Summary: 1 Stars
I recently purchased this DVD from Amazon. Obviously I am in Australia, so one would assume that Amazon would send a DVD with the correct region code for Australia, instead region code on DVD is for US and Canada. Consequently it does not work in my $500.00 LG DVD player. Tried changing region code in player under setup, but even then id did not work. Cannot return it as it has been opened and inserted and ejected a dozen or so times so it has minute scratches from insert eject process. Not impressed.
