Movie Reviews of The HuntedMovie Review: The Real Reasons to See It. Summary: 4 Stars
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Christopher Lambert as much as the next person. His choices in movie roles make for some fun films to watch. But with this film, I have to tip my hat to Yoshio Harada who plays Takeda Sensei, the descendant of Samurai Family Lineage. In most Martial Art movies we see the insanity of running along walls, amazing flips and impossible battles that leave you gawking. Aside from one instance when Takeda deflects incoming Shuriken with his Katana, the fight scenes in this movie are brutal and are much more "realistic" than you might be used to seeing. This coupled with the power of Kodo, a Taiko drum group that adds to the films soundtrack, and you find your blood boiling with every subtle pause that follows a series of graceful sword strikes.
It is a lost movie, because it is hard to find martial art films where the fight scene makes your pulse rise to the point where you feel your heart is in tune with the small steps taken by the swordsmen who pace around each other.
The downside? Well, the movie get slightly cheesy in some points. This is is mostly due to Christopher Lambert, but I don't feel it detracts from the film in whole. In truth, I feel Lambert's performance is much more on Par than Tom Cruise in the Last Samurai and we can certainly empathize with his character: An ignorant westerner thrown into an exotic world of life and death. All he can do, is his best.
It's a fun film, and definitely worth the price you would pay by ordering from Amazon.
Movie Review: God said to Abraham "Kill me a son" Summary: 4 Stars
The wind is in the thorn tree.
Yep, there is nothing exceptional to this Rambo formula remake. They use all the same cliché they probably recycles some of the old Rambo blood and bullets.
Now you ask "why we should watch the Rambo rehash?" Well I'll tell you. Because instead of Richard Crenna, you get Tommy Lee Jones and most of his facial expressions; when they are not being hidden behind blood and hair. And instead of Sylvester Stallone, who was very good in "Oscar", you get Benicio Del Toro who can look more like a man betrayed than an old boxer.
The story is as old as the hills. L.T. Bonham (Tommy Lee Jones) is called out of retirement to track down a mysterious person or persons unknown that killed some hunters. The person turns out to be a soldier Aaron Hallman (Benicio Del Toro) that he trained to kill. Through a series of mishaps Aaron gets loosed and the inept authorities must compete with L.T. for the retrieval or destruction. However L.T. knows he is to only one to do it.
So does Aaron get away so he can kill again?
Does L.T. make his first kill or is he really a pusssy-cat?
Do the inept authorities realize their limits before it is too late?
Do we come away with any new insights?

Movie Review: "Kinjo... I challenge You!!" Summary: 4 Stars
I actually picked up this DVD for my brother, who is a big fan of Japanese swords. This movie has some of the best swordfight scenes i have ever seen in a movie. Unfortunatley Christopher Lambert doesn't shine in this perhaps the way he did in "Highlander," fortunatley enough he doesn't speak very often. This movie is NOT for the light hearted. Extremely Graphic in nature. Getting disembowled with a Katana is not a pretty site, and the director did an excellent job showing this. I don't normally like Action movies; they are generally too predictable and bland in nature; this is surprisingly different. Very Good
Movie Review: A classic Lambert film! Summary: 4 Stars
Though an older film, and echoing the 80's Ninja movie fad, the variety of weapons and killing make this an enjoyable film. Lambert plays a western business man who finds himself caught up in an old school Japanese blood feud. The leader of the Samuri clan uses Lambert as bait to draw out the evil ninja clan. Of course, the ninja clan completely wipes out the Samuri clan due to the hubris of the head samuri, resulting in the requisite show down. If you look japanese style samuri sword fighting, you'll like this movie!
