Movie Reviews of The Hudsucker ProxyMovie Review: Pure Coen Brothers Summary: 5 Stars
This is the Coen Brothers take on a 1940's romantic comedy. Complete with shy, naive, bumbling, hero; worldly, smart newspaper dame; ruthless business men; clocktower narrator and loads of quirky, fast-talking minor characters. Is our hero a genious or an idiot? Is he man enough to get the girl? "You know, it's for kids." If you love Raising Arizona and The Big Lebowsky, you will appreciate the subtle humor and madcap comedy that hits you where you laugh. Fine character acting throughout with standout performances from a cigar chomping Paul Newman, clueless Tim Robbins, cocky Jennifer Jason Leigh and a ukelele playing angel named Charles Durning. Go Eagles!
Movie Review: Wonderful Coens Film Summary: 5 Stars
This is a wonderful film filled with great characters in this 1950's piece about the business world and how unpredictable it is. the coens fill this dark comedy with flair and fun, so it amazes me that it flop. i guess people were'nt ready for it in late 90's when it was released, it could be the title as a reviewer mentioned or the world was'nt ready the pre 21 century and now to present state we really need creativity and talented shows like these to lift are spirits and realize they're hope and we can laugh at things once in awhile.
Thank you to the coens brothers for writing this and may other oddball classics.
Movie Review: "You know... For Kids!" Summary: 5 Stars
The amazing Coen brothers take us on a fantastic ride with The Hudsucker Proxy. Clearly, from the beginning to the end, you are emerged into a very surreal world set in the big city in 1940. Following the goofy, yet enjoyable Norville Barnes (Tim Robbins), we experience a rediculous ride to the top, and fall to the bottom. There are many things about this movie that just seem 'unreal', from the absurd dialogue, to the strange happenings, you get a sense of perfectness throughout the film, something that never happens in real life. I'd recommend this movie to anyone, especially Coen fans.
Movie Review: Funny, Crazy, Silly Summary: 5 Stars
The first time I saw this movie I thought it was OK, amusing, but not as good as I expected, but each subsequent time I have seen it I have enjoyed it more and more. The humour is bizarre, the plot is crazy and I think essentially idiotic, but as with Raising Arizona or O' Brother Where Art Thou or any of their comedies, that really isn't relevant - what makes these movies hilarious is the strange characters, their bizarre behaviour and insane interraction. I recommend hiring before buying, and if you don't like it? Give it at least one more chance.
Movie Review: Wheels in Wheels Summary: 5 Stars
People see a lot of different things in this movie. To me it's about big wheels and zeros, circles, cycles, cogs and clockwork; R O T and the O stands for nothing; aum and the omphalos; karma, the wheel of fortune, the daily mill, what goes around comes around; the zodiac, the turning year, rise and fall (or fail); flying plastic saucers, plastic hoops and straws, halos, hoopla; spin doctors; up and down, round and round, bulls and bears, black and white, good and evil; the nature of time, the future of the past, and when is now? Did I miss something?
