The Holiday
A must see for anyone who has loved and lost, is seeking Mr/Mrs Right, or whom appreciates and values meaningful relationships with people of all ages and backgrounds. This uplifting movie celebrates the ups and downs of life, the nurturing of friendships and children, taking care of our elders and learning how to be strong yet giving. I bought 2 copies; one for a friend at Valentines Day so that I could share with her the joy (and hope for mankind) that this movie brought me....and there is even a comedic bit with a dog.....you'll watch it over and over again.

I am admittedly a sucker for romantic comedies, but for some reason the preview for this film left me uninterested when it first came out, so I never got around to seeing it.
After hearing enough of my fellow romantic comedy fans recommend it, I finally sat down to watch it and was pleasantly surprised.
For some reason I initially thought the casting seemed off, but I was very wrong - all four of the main characters were excellent, and the supporting actors were equally delightful. I was very skeptical about Jack Black as a romantic lead, but I was surprised to find I had a bit of a crush on his character by the end! Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet were there usual excellent selves, and Jude Law was pretty much just as gorgeous and charming as anyone could be.
If you're a fan of Love Actually, What Women Want and all the "classic" romantic comedies, I'd guess that you'd be a fan of this one. It left me with a huge smile and excited to see it again.
On a last note, my husband actually enjoyed this one as well, and let's just say that romantic comedy aren't generally his favorite genre." Overall this is a perfect film for a girls night, a date night, or just a feel good "pick me up" for a rainy evening.
Movie Review: A FUN HOLIDAY
Summary: 4 Stars
As a dedicated Anglophile, I liked this one. It's a fun movie. Light-hearted romance. Nice photography. My son recommended it to me. I rented it, then liked it enough to buy it. The theme of trading houses (and lives to some extent) gave the movie that little something extra that kept it from being boring.
