Movie Reviews of The Holiday

Movie Review: jude law + romantic comedy = no less than four stars
Summary: 5 Stars

I liked the random life points that everyone seemed to be at. All four actors were about the same age, wanting the same thing, but they got there in different ways. Cameron Diaz plays a successful woman who switches homes with Kate Winslet, who works with her ex at The Telegraph, after they both get burned by love. Love-arity ensues when the two meet new people in their vacationing towns. A lot of the reviewers harp on how "predictable" the movie was. So? It's a love story. I mean, that would kind of suck if Kate Winslet and Jack Black made a love suicide pact wouldn't it? I personally thought the packed a surprise or two. I absolutely ADORED Kate Winslet. One of my dislikes of the movie had to be Cameron Diaz trying to overcome her ability to cry. It's uncomfortable to watch because she is such a bad actress during that part.

Movie Review: A Very Pleasant Surprise
Summary: 5 Stars

After spending the past three days trying unsuccessfully to locate a rental copy of The Holiday, I broke down and purchased one yesterday. My wife and I seldom buy movies, as the vast majority are quite forgettable and would only gather dust on a shelf. The first comment my wife made after the credits finished rolling was, "Wow! I am so glad that we bought it!" I completely agree. To our way of thinking, it is a classic romantic comedy deserving of mention in the same breath as "When Harry Met Sally," "Pretty Woman," or "Sleepless in Seattle." I have no idea why it did not garner more critical acclaim or box office success. The acting, directing, and entire production were wonderful. Without question, this movie deserves a "5-star" rating and a place in my very small permanent movie collection!

Movie Review: The Holiday
Summary: 5 Stars

My Oppinion: The Holiday is a very funny movie, i loved all the characters and the actors were great.

About the film: The Holiday is about two women irs(Winslet) & Amanda(Diaz) who are fed up with thier love life. They switch homes for the holiday on a home swapping web site. Iris lives in london and Amanda lives in la. The two swap homes for the Holiday and end up meeting the guys of thier dreams which one Grham(Law) is iris's brother and Miles(Black) is Amanda's ex-boyfriends best friend. which takes a comical turn on how the girls keep the guys.

My second Oppinion: The Holiday is a great Romantic comedy for everyone. Nancy Meyers does an outstanding job on this movie.

Movie Review: A vulgarity-free uplifting treat!
Summary: 5 Stars

I saw this movie with my gal pal on our monthly outing and we both LOVED it so much that we saw it again the next month! There are some truly tender and bittersweet moments that will bring tears to your eyes, a couple of standout moments of personal victory and plenty of laughs. This is a well-balanced film with everything a person looks for in a romantic comedy WITHOUT all the smut and filth so many other filmmakers can't seem to stay away from. By the way, I took my very sturdy husband to the movie (yes, saw it three times in the theatre before I bought the DVD!) and he loved it as much as I did (dare I say I spotted a tear on his cheek more than once during the film?). This movie will lift your spirits. The most refreshing and entertaining romantic comedy I've seen in years.

Movie Review: So much better than expected
Summary: 5 Stars

There are a lot great reviews about the movie out there, so I can't add anything new or unsaid. I didn't watch the video when it was released because I thought it's just another average romantic comedy. Last week I eventually watched it for the first time and after that I watched it again. It was so much better than expected, the cast is stellar and the score is beautiful. Alone to watch Kate Winslet in one of her best performances is worthwhile to buy the movie. Jude Law stole my heart away and I even liked Cameron Diaz - the two of them had a great chemistry here. I also loved the subplot about Iris' friendship with her elderly neighbor Arthur. The film is never boring and never feels like a movie longer than 90 minutes. I highly recommend to watch this movie!
