Movie Reviews of The Holiday

Movie Review: Absolutely, completely loved this movie.
Summary: 5 Stars

I saw this movie, not once, not twice, but THREE times. A little bit obsessive, I know, but for someone who enjoys romantic comedies as it is...this movie knocked it out of the park for me. I'm not usually a fan of Cameron Diaz's acting, but in this movie she was stunning as Amanda Woods (a wound-up, unable to cry Movie Trailer maker). Jude Law, I really did not expect this character out of him. Jude's character Graham was impossibly handsome and radiated so much charisma, there were a few scenes in the movie that truly made me melt (his smile alone is enough of an incentive to see the movie and well worth the ticket price). Kate Winslet (Iris) was remarkable, as I've always thought she was. Her character's dilemma really struck a chord with me, and I'm sure with everyone who has dealt with an unrequited love. And last but certainly not least, Jack Black's character Miles. I'll admit I did not want to see Mr.Black attempt a romantic comedy role when I first saw the previews for this movie, but after seeing him I very much respect him. I'm glad he went for this role, it shows how versatile of an actor he can be. Miles was a delightful character to watch and easily complimented Iris. I highly recommend seeing this movie before it goes out of theaters (I'm thinking I might have to see it ONE MORE TIME), and most definitely buy/rent it when it comes out on DVD!

Movie Review: this puts the "fun" in "funny"!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I just got back from watching the new movie the Holiday in the theater starring Camren Diaz and Kate Winslett that is so funny and it is also very heartfelt too. The characters are all very very believable and because they are so funny and you laugh at them that you believe that they are real peopl!! Nancy Myers directed this movie and I think that she wrote the screenplay too and she has a great ear for dialogue because the dialogue is funny and makes you laugh but it also makes you smile like Jack Black is great in this movie!! Kate and Cameren are a great screen team because they are both pretty ladies who can act and if you watch The Mask with Cameron Diaz and Titanic with Kate Winslett or something with Jude Law in it, you will know what I mean. The funnyest part in the holiday was the part when Cameron Diaz who's character name is Amanada when she is walking in her high heel shoes and she slips on a patch of ice and then she grabs onto that tree branch that is covered in snow and the snow falls all over her head and face and gets on her head too!! That part alone is worth the ticket price and it will probably have you rolling in the eyulls unless you don't think this sort of thing is not funny but I don't really see how that could be possible unless you don't like comedies or something. Youll have a jollyday at the HOliday!!!!!!

Movie Review: Love Conquers All!
Summary: 5 Stars

The Holiday is a romantic film by Nancy Myers and has a lot of big names in it: Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Kate Winslet and Jack Black. If you enjoy a heartwarming, romantic comedy, you will love this movie. If you have wondered what could happen if you just picked up and basically exchanged your life with a stranger, then you will also love this movie. It is definitely a 'chick flick'. My husband bemoaned the fact that no one was killed, there was nothing blown up, etc. I found the movie captivating and found myself smiling a lot as sweet moments occured.

This is a story of two women who are having love life and personal problems. They find one another through Home Exchange and within a day, they have left their troubles behind and journeyed to new lands. Kate Winslett, who has very little self-respect, finds a bushel! Her outgoing personality attracts those around her and while she is helping others, in the end she helps herself to become stronger.

Cameron Diaz is a powerful, wealthy woman who is emotionally blocked. Her journey into love finds her overcoming past sorrows and learning that loving and taking chances can be very rewarding.

Jack Black and Jude Law melted my heart with their smiles. They both did a fantastic job. I highly recommend this movie!

Movie Review: A must-see must-have romatic comedy
Summary: 5 Stars

If you hate romantic comedies then you will hate this movie because The Holiday is everything a good romantic comedy should be: funny and romantic (of course), sweet, sad, beautifully photographed, brilliantly scored, perfectly casted and very well directed.

Kate Winslet and Jude Law on their own are enough to make me watch anything... seriously, I go to see everything they are on. Nancy Meyers directed "Something's Gotta Give", one of my favorite romantic comedies so that was a bonus. So let say my expectations were high with this movie. But The Holiday was even better than I thought it could be.

Everything works perfectly in this film: Jude Law looks gorgeous, he and Cameron Diaz have a great chemistry, Cameron is funny as always, Kate Winslet is hilarious (she should do more comedy)... even Jack Black is adorable! And besides your boy-meets-girl kind of story you have a beautiful full-of-heart story between Iris (Winslet) and her L.A. neighbor Arthur (Eli Wallach... brilliant!).

And please pay attention to the enchanting score by Hans Zimmerman. That's another must-have.

And if you don't like romantic comedies, maybe you should give this one a chance. It's totally worth it.

Movie Review: Other Reviews Super, Just Want to Give 5 Stars and Point to Other DVDs
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a five-star movie. A special cachet is added by Eil Wallach as the elderly screenwriter.

I bought this to remind myself what romance was supposed to be like. I am hugely satisfied. Another keeper.
