Movie Reviews of The HobbitMovie Review: Great version of J.R.R. Tolkein's The Hobbit. Summary: 5 Stars
Bilbo Baggins ( voiced by " Orson Bean") is a Hobbit that goes on a simple quest with Gandolf ( John Huston) and a bunch of Dwarfs that must find Gold from the evil Dragon " Smaug". A highly entertaining and all-around fun yet excellent Rankin-Bass film which is one of the best they did with " Return of the King", " The Last Unicorn", and " Flight of Dragons".Also recommend: Lord of the Rings ( 1978), Return of the King, and Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings.
Movie Review: Great movie! The Hobbit Summary: 5 Stars
i specifically like this cartoon, because it is most like its original book and aimed twards children, where as the actual "trilogy" movies are not. yeah they both have common factors, but in truth, the movies are for adults, or older kids. where as this movie is designed to delight kids anywhere from 2-100!
the color gives the movie that old time feel, and the characters are playful and imaginative. this movie is on my high ranking list with the last unicorn.
Movie Review: NO TRUE FAN DISLIKES THIS ADAPTION Summary: 5 Stars
WHILE NOT PERFECT, I.E. A FEW CHAPTERS AND CHARACTERS(BEORN FOR EXAMPLE HAS BEEN COMPLETELY REMOVED) HAVE BEEN EDITED OUT. THIS ADAPTION HAS A CHARM THAT CAPTURES TOLKIENS CLASSIC FIRST BOOK IN THE SERIES OF HOBBITS. THE VOICE ACTING IS EXCELLENT. THE ANIMATION IS DISTINCTIVE(IF YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE THUNDERCATS YOU WILL RECOGNIZE THE STYLE ALTHOUGH IT IS FULLER IN THE HOBBIT) SOME OF THE SONGS ARE EVEN LIFTED FROM POEMS IN THE BOOK. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Movie Review: "THE GREATEST ADVENTURE..." Summary: 5 Stars
"The Hobbit" is one of the finest animated films ever produced. It features some beautiful music, as well as some fine talent in the voicing of the characters (including John Huston as Gandalf and Orson Bean as Bilbo). Where Ralph Bakshi's "The Lord of the Rings" fails due to some lackluster animation, the scenery and characters in "The Hobbit" are beautifully rendered! Any Tolkien fan will not want to miss this! Grade: A+
Movie Review: Oh wow! Summary: 5 Stars
I have a very special relationship with the book version of The Hobbit. When I was growing up, my mother must have read the children's version to me like 500 times. I loved it to death. I was born in 1981. When I was like 4 or 5 I saw the movie and fell in love with it.Now, I own the DVD. I must agree, though, many of the sound effects have been changed. I've grown used to it though. The DVD quality is outstanding. I'm glad they finally put this out.
