Movie Reviews of The Hitcher (Widescreen Edition)Movie Review: Something Like "Road Kill" if you've seen it Summary: 3 StarsThe guy who played Trevelon or whatever the name was in James Bond Goldeneye is a hitch hiker who is just insane and kills people cause he has a death wish or something.
These two young college kids almost run him over and then end up giving him a ride and he turns out to be nuts and tries to kill them.
Thats about the whole plot, it's an action thriller kind of thing, along the same lines of Roadkill/Joyride which I would not be surprised to see these titles sold together in a pack soon.
Roadkill is a hell of a lot better then this one, but this one is OK and can fill in the time for the thriller horror fan, it's not bloody, but if you like some decent special effects of blood n guts (like i do, i laugh at them there so cool) then this is an OK movie to check out.
Movie Review: For Just a Penny Less... Summary: 2 Stars...you could get the original HITCHER and watch a much better movie. I have to confess: I'm a big fan of the original HITCHER, it was scary, breathlessly suspenseful, and even made you think. This pointless remake has none of those attributes. For one thing, changing the lone driver in the original to a cloyingly cute young couple in the remake is a disastrous decision. The original, with its lone protagonist driving cross-country across dark and rainy wide open spaces, was very likable and more to the point, terribly vulnerable. By changing the story to a couple going somewhere for spring break, you automatically undercut the tension greatly because you have TWO people who can turn to each other. This is the first in a series of bad choices made by the filmmakers. Please buy the original...it's just that: ORIGINAL. And it's a good movie, unlike this derivative ripoff.
Movie Review: Leave this hitcher on the roadside and get the original. Summary: 1 StarsIf there was ever a pointless remake of a film, then this one is it.
Not even Sean Bean can salvage this wreck of a film and I'm a huge fan of his work and it matters little if he's a bad guy, as in National Treasure, or an average "Joe", as in Flightplan. This film offers no reasonable reason for remaking a cult classic. This film is an almost shot for shot remake of The Hitcher with C. Thomas Howell and the great Rutger Hauer but lacks all the genuine chills and suspense that the original had.
In the original, Hauer's hitcher was more evil incarnate than a real flesh and blood character and this film's flaw is that Bean seems all too real. He's just your average psychopath that we hope to never meet whereas Hauer's hitcher is was an evil presence we feared finding us no matter where we might be. He was soulless and happy to be so. Bean's hitcher seems to have not only a soul, but also a conscious. He wants to be stopped. It's like a plea for help. We got none of that "touchy feely" crap with Hauer's villain.
To continue to berate this remake is rather pointless and so is this remake. Go rent the original shocker and enjoy some genuine thrills instead of this senseless mess.
Movie Review: Get the original Summary: 3 StarsIf you've never seen the original this movie is okay. I wasn't going to see it cause I love the original. But, I'm a big Sean Bean fan so I had to. My greatest disappointment was that there was no creepy connection between Bean and the couple like in the original. This is the last remake I'm ever going to see. The only remake that is close to as good as original is King Kong.
Movie Review: Pretty good Summary: 4 StarsI think this movie wasn't that bad. I mean, yeah, there are some parts that don't make alot of sense, but none of it was PHYSICALLY impossible. You know, I hate many "scary" movies, but this one had a couple of good scares, and what more can you really expect from a remake?
