Movie Reviews of The GuardianMovie Review: 22 Summary: 5 Stars
That is the number he didn't save. That is the number he can't forget. Not the number that he did save.
The undying theme of helping another human being survive motivates these unbelievably, courageous Coast Guard men. When the viewer
is thrown into the amazingly photographed rescue scenes and understands how important their arduous training was,
and how easy it would be to get emotionally involved, than the movie takes on a deeper resonance: "swim to the weakest and let the others go". It's the memory of the tortured others, that eternal ache, that slowly eats away at Costner's character. Like others who have carried the cross it is a heavy burden.
Well acted, great footage of ocean rescues.
Movie Review: These people have major league nerves of steel Summary: 5 Stars
These people portrayed in this movie have got all the courage of any special forces troops. To be able to want to as well as be able to fly out into a storm, jump into Hell to go after people n bring back lives all in a days work, have got my admoration all the way around. I work with a former Coast guard rescue swimmer who told me that when he was in it, the storms that he went out in were far worse than what was portrayed in the movie.
Costner acting was no different than if he were living that role in real life n his students, no different than real life young military.
This move will give you a whole new respect for those who have dedicated their lives to saving others when duty calls.
Movie Review: Go Coast Guard! I loved this movie... I've seen it at least 50 times! Summary: 5 Stars
I absolutely loved this movie. As a Red Cross disaster volunteer I witnessed the work of the Coast Guard during Kathrina and at many other disasters since. People don't hear about the Coast Guard much, but if you just think about their name... they have a lot to protect, all the time, not just when we are at war. I loved Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher is one of my favorites. I only wish they hadn't cut out so much of the movie and it would have been longer. I've watched this movie so many times that I wore out the first DVD. My son's dog ate my second copy so I'm purchasing a 3rd. Well worth watching and I've watched all of the Special Features including the Director's commentary. It was awesome too!
Movie Review: Amazing!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I thought the movie was amazing. Since I am in the Coast Guard I know alot about us and the movie was pretty accurate. We go through alot and never get a thanks until we are needed. AST or rescue swimmer as they are called in the movie are our as you can say "TOP GUN" of the coast guard. It takes alot to do what we do in the condition that someone wouldn't even leave there house in. I am about to be in the bering sea for 3 months on a coast guard cutter to help provide coverage for the crab season. We are talking 40 to 60 foot seas like in the movie.. It gets bad and this movie helps show people that we are part of the military and that we aren't just some boy scout group or something like that.
Movie Review: One of the best movies I've ever seen!!! Summary: 5 Stars
WOW! I love this movie. It has a great story and really honors those men and women that are serving the USCG. I was balling my eyes out in diffrent parts in the movie. Eveyone should see it. I am 13, and I loved the whole movie. It kept me ancious to see what would happen next! It really shows how much hard work goes into that job and how sad it is that the US military dosn't even mencion them. I found out about them when I saw this movie and I was really suprised that they don't get any credit for saving anyone! The soundtrack is also very good but they don't seem to be selling it. This movie really makes me want to think about working for the USCG. Its means that much to me.
