Movie Reviews of The GuardianMovie Review: The Guardian Summary: 5 Stars
An aging USCG rescue swimmer's team is killed in a horrific rescue mission. Immediately prior to this terrible event, his wife also announced that she cannot take anymore. His first love is always the rescue mission. This leaves him an obviously emotional wreck. His commender gives him a choice - quit or take a position as an instructor at the USCG training facility in Louisiana. Reluctantly he takes the position. Moving into the school, he immediately increases the 18 week curriculum that routinely fails half of the people that attend. Here he meets a young man with unlimited potential, but with some secret that seems to hold him back as a team player. Delving into his past, links are found that make him a psychic twin to the older man. It's a story about a simple topic, illuminated in a way that brings the audience to a higher level of empathy than thought possible. That's what I think good film-making is and I for one am throughly impressed by this movie. This movie will earn your applause.
Movie Review: "Action-Packed" Summary: 5 Stars
Kevin Kostner and Ashton Kutcher star in "The Guardian", a film about the Coast Guard Rescue Swimmers, people who save lives. Ben, played by Kostner, is given an assignment, one he doesn't want, and that is to train a cocky, arrogant new recruit, played by Kutcher. The two find themselves at odds at the beginning because each have their own secrets, but what develops is a deep and respectful friendship between two men who eventually find themselves relying on the other to survive. "The Guardian" is well-produced with intelligent action sequences and the performances are flawless. The Bering Sea was the actual location where this film was produced, often noted for its horrendous and terrifying water. The DVD comes with deleted scenes, an alternate ending, audio commentary, and a featurette on the making of the movie. Critic Jeanne Wolf says, "Kostner and Kutcher have never been more compelling and heroic".
Movie Review: One Of The Best Military Films I have Viewed Summary: 5 Stars
The Film is not dramitized or hollywooded it is very authentic and very well done Kevin Costner does an outstanding job like he always does he reminds me of a chief petty officer i worked for during my Navy tenure
of 20 years. Ashton Kutcher does an equally outstanding Job of the young coast guard sailor.and does not hold anything back he is young guy that is becoming a rescue swimmer an put his heart and soul in to his training
the film is a tribute to the young men and women who put their lives on the line every day to defend this great nation of ours.It like a book you can,t put down i have watched it 3 times and each time it gets better.the only i can say is that is a lot of responsability to put on an E3but that is why they go through such tough training i take my hat off to themI highly recomend this film to everyone.

Movie Review: Surprised by a Good Movie Summary: 5 Stars
Despite mediocre reviews and having struggled through An Officer and a Gentleman and Top Gun I decided to watch The Guardian with every expectation that I would not make it through the movie... I am glad that I went, one of the best movies I've seen in awhile. It's easy to find fault in any movie and The Guardian is no exception; the rescue scenes are bigger than life which should be expected in a military/disaster movie; but the overconfident and somewhat arrogant trainee (Ashton Kutcher) is believable at his age, and Kevin Costner was at his best since the late 80's (The Untouchables & No Way Out). Despite my surprise when learning that my college age children watched The Guardian, I was even more astonished that they discussed aspects of this movie - Service, sacrifice, relationships, and perseverance. In an office where I very rarely see 7 thumbs up; The Guardian got the grade.
Movie Review: Let`s hear it for the U.S. Coast Guard Summary: 5 Stars
There have been many movies made about the Marine Corps, the Navy, the Air Force and the Army.
Now, It was great to see a movie about the Coast Guard and how they train and how they make their rescues.
The scarifices all of these branch of services makes for all of us everyday, these types of movies are a good reminder for us to share appreciate to them.
And another reminder, atleast for me is that nothing should be taken for granted.
I felt Kevin C. and Ashton K. acted very well together.
My question is, which ending did you all prefer?
The movie ending?
Or the alternative ending?
All in all, for me, personally, it was a touching movie.
