Movie Reviews of The Great GatsbyMovie Review: Not the best adaptation but .. Summary: 4 Stars
I found some of the performances shallow and not as in depth as the novel but, it's still a great film. I do not feel that anyone can take a novel like Gatsby and turn it into a 2 hour film with great success. If you have not read the novel then I think you may find it a bit lacking. You have to know the back stories that are not present in the film version.
I wish that Acorn Media or the BBC would make the novel into a miniseries because I know they would do credit to the novel.
Movie Review: Jeana DeNardo pd 8 English Summary: 4 Stars
The Great Gatsby movie directed by Robert Redford was everything that I pictured the Great Gatsby to be. The characters at times were a little over the edge, but the setting and the props used depicted the 1920's perfectly. Gatsby in the movie was perfect for the part along with Nick, but I did not think that the character that played Tom was what I pictured from the book. Over all the movie was what I pictured when I read the Great Gatsby and was very enjoyable to watch.
Movie Review: Daisy, Daisy, Daisy. Summary: 4 Stars
The Great Gatsby starring Robert Redford, Mia Farrow, and Sam Waterston is a pretty interesting adaptation of the F. Scott Fitzgerald classic novel of the same. I like this film, I don't think the movie treads far from the book even though others disagree. The ending is sad and may not satisfy the viewer but hey this is how real life is, no happily ever after. Check this under-rated film out sometime, enjoy!
Movie Review: Better than expected Summary: 4 Stars
Having studied the Great Gatsby at school and read a lot of F. Scott Fitzgerald, I was pleasantly surprised to see how much of the essence of the book the film captures. The tension throughout was papable, one could feel the heat and the imagery excellent. All the character roles were well played and portrayed.
Movie Review: Gorgeous movie Summary: 4 Stars
This movie was lovingly made, and it shows in every gorgeous scene. There are some slow moments, but it's a fine adaptation of one of the greatest novels of all time. Redford was made to play Jay Gatsby, the hopeless romantic, and Mia Farrow is picture-perfect as the fickle Daisy Fay Buchanan.
