Movie Review: "Who's The Judge?" ~ "Your Weapons Are Words" On The Road To Equality
Summary: 5 Stars
The '07 release `The Great Debaters' is an excellent production with a brilliant cast comprised of both known and unknown faces. Denzel Washington and Forrest Whitaker are superb as always and the young debaters played by Nate Parker, Jurnee Smollet and Denzel Whitaker show that they are up to the task of acting beside some of the industries best. They're intense, likeable and amazingly convincing.
However `The Great Debaters' is more than just a great film. Since it's based on a true story circa 1935 in Texas the poignancy and urgency of the message is not meant to serve merely as a period piece on Black Americana. It's also a reminder of where we've been, where we are now and how far we've yet to travel on the road to racial equality.
Recommended viewing!

The trailers do not do justice for this amazing piece of art! I am a huge fan of both Denzel Washington and Forest Whitaker, but after watching the trailer, I wasn't too sure if I would like to view this movie, but I am very glad that I did as it was a real masterpiece! We have all seen many movies on racial issues, but this one shines on top of them all!
I recommend this movie without hesitation! Great cast all around, great performances, great storyline based on real events, great cinematography, and great entertainment!
The Great Debaters delivers on many levels the value of love, the evil of oppression, the ugliness of racism, and the beauty of triumph. A must see!
Movie Review: Educational, inspirational, and entertaining!

This is an outstanding and very moving film about a fascinating slice of our country's racial history -- beautifully written and superbly acted, with a good soundtrack too. The debate format allows the story to seamlessly integrate the social and political context into the plot. Although it does have a strong message, the story is, for the most part, allowed to unfold through the differing viewpoints of the youthful protagonists, saving it from being excessively plodding or preachy. The dialogue occasionally flirts with cliche and Hollywood schmaltz, but this is a minor quibble with an incredibly impressive accomplishment. Highly recommended!Movie Review: A MUST HAVE !!! UNBELIEVEABLE.. one of the best movie Ive seen ... It touches you in a place of realness..life ... buy this movie.... Its about real life facing real situation.. it just so happen to be a young man coming to terms with his life... Side NOTE: No one ever said that falling in love would be easy.... But it can be done... GREAT YOUNG AFRICAN AMERICAN ACTORS & ACTRESSES!!!

Movie Review: GREAT MOVIE!!!

I saw the Great Debaters today. All I have to say is that it was a magnificant movie in every sense of the word. I was spellbound throughout the movie. When I returned home I called my family and close friends to tell them they "had" to go to see the movie. It's classic! I don't usually buy DVDs of movies I've seen but will certainly buy this one as soon as it's released. A MUST SEE MOVIE!!
