Movie Reviews of The Grateful Dead MovieMovie Review: Great movie - need HD! Summary: 5 Stars
Born too late and having missed out on one of my favorite bands this movie provides the closest thing to a Grateful Dead show out there. Even if you're not a fan I think there is a lot of value in watching this DVD. It also might turn someone on ...
This needs the HD treatment. The DVD sparks with excellent sound and video quality I couldn't imagine what it would be like in HD. Closer to the real thing? Perhaps!
Movie Review: The Grateful Dead Movie Summary: 5 Stars
I have come to the music of the Grateful Dead late I'm afraid, but better late than never I guess. This DVD is great, sounded spectacular on my surround system, turned up very very loud! I'm just starting to get into The Dead, and there is so much material out there that it is kind of daunting knowing just what to pick up! Can someone offer suggestions? Anyway, I loved this DVD and will be playing it quite alot, I'm sure.
Movie Review: Bonus DVD really makes it Summary: 5 Stars
I'm not going to write a long review here, but I have to say that the bonus disc is fantastic - seeing the Dead play in 1974(5 years before I ever saw them myself), without interruptions for crowd shots, etc., is really great. The song selection is excellent, far better than the songs in the movie itself. Watching this bonus footage, I feel like I'm right on stage with the band. The interviews are also very good.
Movie Review: Iggy's poem?? Summary: 5 Stars
In the GD Movie, a guy named Iggy recites a poem "If the Grateful Dead was to live, many concerts they'd give..."
I bumped into him at the Cheshire Cat, a great pub that used to be on Euclid Avenue in Berkeley. Do any of you heads out there know him??
BTW, love the movie, but I've never seen it on the small screen before. Bruddah, it ain't the same!!
Movie Review: A Historical Film Summary: 5 Stars
Deadhead or not, this is the quintessential rock concert film. When your children ask what it was like to go to a real rock-n-roll concert in the old days, just pop this video in. The essence of everything live music is about -- the band, the crowd, the venue, etc. -- is captured perfectly. A must have for any music fan.
