Movie Review: John Ford's John Steinbeck Masterpiece.
Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great movie. John Ford makes an unforgettable movie out of a great book. John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath (Centennial Edition), about a man returning home from prison and dealing with his world around him.
One of the best movies I've ever seen. THe commentary on this disc is expecially fulfilling, and the extras are definitely worthy of this releases.

I was brought up in the fifties and taught that the strong, silent type is the model for young men to emulate. Henry Fonda fits that role to a "T" plus he's got smarts and soul. Plus there are great character and supporting actors (including the female playing Fonda's mother) in this movie. Your film collection is not complete without this masterpiece. I named my daughter Rose of Sharon while going through hard times though they weren't near as bad as those of Dust Bowl dwellers.Movie Review: Honest But Brief Review

One of the best black and white movies about the depression era I have ever seen. All characters in the movie were superbly acted out especially the rolls of Heny Fonda, his mother, and the preacher. The movie will bring you to tears. I especially like Heny Fonda's concluding statement in the movie at the end. You will not forget it. I love this movie and have to admit I enjoy it more than the book. The book is about too preachy for me, but the movie focuses on the story and clarifies it. An amazing achievement for all involved and Henry Fonda probably had his greatest performance in this picture. John Ford, Gregg Toland and others involved with this picture did a fine job.
