Finally the DVD has been released of Johnny Cash's musical expression of his faith. Get this and see what was only hinted at in "Walk the Line." If you want to know what gave Johnny Cash the strength for his comeback, this is the movie to watch. Produced by him and released in 1973, it was, according to accounts of the time, a labor of love.
Various musicians were weighing in with their interpretations of Jesus: Rice and Webber with "Jesus Christ Superstar" and Schwartz's "Godspell"--it was appropriate that the reigning royalty of country music should do the same. See what Johnny Cash, June Carter, and Kris Kristofferson came up with--you won't be disappointed.

What a heartfelt movie of the life of Jesus.
It's filmed beautifully in Israel, and narrated by Johnny Cash, who had a warm and commanding voice that stands out in this movie. Most songs are sung by him, and, as always, are striking and full of heart. Kris Kristofferson's songs add an additional reverent touch to a production that is true to the Bible.
Reviewers have covered details about this movie thoroughly, so I'll keep this short. The film moved me, and I'm left wondering, where have I been since it was released in 1973?

THIS DVD WAS SHIPPED IN SUCH A TIMELY MANNER AND IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. I ORDERED IT IMMEDIATELY AFTER VIEWING IT AT CHURCH ON A TUES EVE AND IT GOT TO ME BY THE WEEKEND OF EASTER SO THAT OUR FAMILY COULD VIEW IT TOGETHER ON EASTER SUNDAY. This was an unknown phase to me in Johnny Cash life. In my youth in college I operated Spotlights and Stage Lighting for him and the June Carter entire family! That was over 40 years ago! Now at my present age it represents something that I find very helpful and wonderful. I'm happy this old brilliant movie is available on DVD now. I don't know how many times I watched it yars ago with my youth groupes, and we had chilles every time because it's a gospel narration so touching and profound, and I haven't seen a Jesus character portrayed so close to human reality in another gospel movie. Thanks for this DVD edition.
