Movie Review: "Suspenseful!
Summary: 5 Stars
After Macaulay Culkin became an overnight star in the "Home Alone" series his agents were anxious to cast him in roles that were very different from his comedic performances. In "The Good Son" Culkin portrays a character that is many watts away from "Home Alone". In this film his character is obviously disturbed and his evil side emerges when his family takes in his cousin (played by Elijah Wood) after the death of the cousin's mother. When the Culkin character realizes his own mother is starting to bond with his cousin, he takes drastic measures to halt the relationship. Superb performances, creepy camera work, and an intense well-written script makes "The Good Son" a must-see film. The movie is great to watch on a winter afternoon as the film , I believe, was shot mostly in the northeast in the dead of winter near the Atlantic ocean. Unfortunately, the DVD doesn't come with any extras, but the film contains both the full and widescreen formats for your enjoyment. Although nearly all the critics panned the film, "The Good Son" has so far grossed over $60 million worldwide.Movie Review: Macaulay Culkin vs. Elijah Wood in this thriller

Very surprising performance from two young actors. the movie's about a boy named Mark (Elijah Wood) whose mother just died so his father (David Morse) leaves him with his aunt and uncle. So Mark befriends his cousin Henry(Macaulay Culkin). At first they become inseperable but later on Mark finds out that Henry doesn't care about the lives of other people. that's when the two become more seperable. Henry even tried to kill his little sister connie (Quinn Culkin Macaulay's actual sister). Henry took her to a skating rank where he was gonna throw her in the thick ice. Mark followed him to save connie but he didn't have any skates and he sipped which made him go slower.Then Henry threw her to the ice and the ice cracked and she fell right through he didn't save her then the lake froze and she was still in there. This is what I think about this film some kids can be worst than adults.Movie Review: eye opener for the closed minded

the movie is scary as to how far Henry takes his lunacy with him and blames his cousin for alot of the things he does
one screwed up kid that only his cousin sees. some funny scenes too at times. Macauley is good at doing different roles. he's the perfect bad guy for this movie. it wouldn't of been as shocking had Elijah been the bad son. i mean that seriously. glad I bought this on dvd. worth the watch time and time again
this movie also goes to prove that sometimes the cute adorable kids you love aren't really so innocent after all. so remember that parents. keep that in mind and you'll be fine.
Movie Review: Finally its on DVD, great movie

I loved this movie. This is Caulkin at his best. Wood also is pretty good. The story is a new spin on the classic good versus evil theme. Caulkin is the naturally depraved cousin attempting to kill his own family, while Wood sees all and is left vainly crying wolf. The movie offers remarkable insight into the nature of evil. In Billy Budd, Herman Melville talks about how the naturally depraved are dominated by intellectuality and can mask their true selves in a mantle of respectability. He says these people are the most dangerous sort. This movie does an exccellent job of illustrating these insights into evil. That was my favorite part of the movie, forget about the story or plot, think of the story as an allegory, its a very intelligent film.Movie Review: Great evil kid movie!

The DVD came right on time, and in perfect condition. Aside from that, I love this movie! I am a big fan of the "evil kid" genre, and this is my sec fav in that category. It's a great psychological drama movie about Henry, a disturbed child who manipulates his cousin Mark into his sinister plans. No one will listen to Mark and he has to fend for himself.
The plot, setting, and drama was done right! It has you wondering just what Henry is going to do next! I also noticed that a more recent movie called "Orphan" is very similar to The good son. Orphan was kind of like a (improved) remake. Has pretty much the same plot line and character elements. So if you liked orphan and haven't seen The good son, I highly recommend this movie!
