Movie Reviews of The Glass Bottom BoatMovie Review: "Doris Day meets James Bond" Summary: 5 Stars
This DVD version of the 1966 movie was great fun-I had not seen this movie since it was released! The real stars are, of course, Doris Day, and in a very funny supporting role, Paul Lynde.
There are a lot of other well-known stars in this elaborate spy spoof, made at the height of the 60's spy-craze. Day plays a widow who is mistaken for a double agent, while at the same time, having an affair with Rod Taylor, who plays a "rocket scientist" The last 15 minutes are hysterical, with Day being chased by the real spy... Very amusing and entertaining!
Movie Review: A fun, silly movie from the 60's Summary: 5 Stars
This is a totally enjoyable romantic comedy romp with Doris Day at her best. Throw in a bit of physical comedy, spy spoof script, as well as a GREAT supporting cast (not mentioned yet here on Amazon) - Arthur Godfrey, Paul Lynde, Dom DeLuise and even Alice Pearce and Geroge Tobias (playing husband and wife as they did on Bewitched!). You'll have fun with this one. Hope the DVD has some extras (but am not going to count on it). At least we will have the wide screen!
Movie Review: The cutest of all corn Summary: 5 Stars
To quote Kate Winslet's character, Iris in The Holiday: "I love corny... I'm looking for corny in my life." The Glass Bottom Boat is the cutest corny available in movies of the past. When I was a kid I adored Rod Taylor (and this movie) and bought the DVD partly to see him again. Everyone loves Doris Day and rightly so, but if you're looking for the ultimate leading man... this one has it! Rod Taylor, you rock!
Movie Review: This is a funny family movie Summary: 5 Stars
I have seen most Doris Day movies but was surprised when I came accross this movie and I bought it because I hadn't seen it. This is a great movie to watch on family movie night with your entire family. You will laugh so hard that your stomack and sides will hurt. I don't want to say much more because I don't want to ruin the movie for all of you. Its just another wonderfully funny Doris Day Romantic comedy.
Movie Review: An Under-rated Classic Comedy Summary: 5 Stars
This is perhaps Doris Day's finest comedy... yup, even funnier and more fun than "Pillow Talk". it has Doris looking her all-time most beautiful, yet performing some truly funny lines and slapstick. Rod Taylor is perfect has the handsome beau and the antics get belly laughs from me every time. The film also is marvelous for those too young to remember the early 60s in styles, and in flavor. Highly recommended!
