Movie Reviews of The Girl Next DoorMovie Review: Sick & Twisted Summary: 5 Stars
I give this film a 5 star rating not because it compares to Lawrence of Arabia, Shindler's List, or Saving Private Ryan but because it achieves what it sets out to do. That's create a sick and twisted film in which a young girl is raped and tortured in every conceiveable way. It's a film about child abuse on the extreme end of the spectrum. This film is so demented that just using children in the making of this movie should be considered child abuse!! While the camera work left much of the visual torture out nothing was left to the imagination. This movie should have been award an X rating for the nudity and graphic sexual violence.
Movie Review: Brutal... Summary: 5 Stars
Not knowing anything about the book I walked in to this expecting a fun and creepy horror film. What I got was easily one of the most unforgettable film experiences I've ever had. Gruesome and disturbing without ever being trashy. As a matter of fact, the most amazing thing about the film is how great the direction and performances are. The woman who plays Ruth creates one of the most frightening monsters in film history. Hats off to the rest of the cast and crew for making a film that's going to take me a while to shake off. I'm not gonna go into details of the story. All I'm saying is SEE IT. You won't be sorry you did.
Movie Review: VERY SAD & TRUE DISTURBING STORY!! Summary: 5 Stars
I was able to read Jack Ketchum's book a year or so ago and I must say, no other book has ever effected me so thoroughly. It's a deeply disturbing work and not for the faint of heart. When I learned there would be a film adaptation I was more than a little skeptical. Could they even come close to capturing the true horror of the novel? The answer is a resounding YES. It was dark, disturbing and, without a doubt, controversial. I absolutely cannot recommend this to those of you out there that may find the subject of child abuse intolerable. This is a true heartbreaker.
Movie Review: Made me want to find all Auntie Ruth's out there a beat them Summary: 5 Stars
I already knew a little about this story, but this movie did such a good job it was hard to watch. There wasn't even very much gore. They would give you a clear idea of what they were doing and then let your imagination run wild. Even me and my poor imagination ended up cringing several times during this film. However, through all this The Girl Next Door ends up being a fantastic film. I watched extremely late at night and ended up staying up way longer than I should've thinking about the movie. Somebody has already said it, but it's not a film I will soon forget...
Movie Review: Unforgettable, artistic, and absolutely painful to watch Summary: 5 Stars
I cover horror films for a living, and this film is firmly one of the top three indie films ive ever seen in any genre. Its a drama with extremely dark human horror elements, delivered amidst a tender story of childhood love and friendship. What happens to this innocent girl, played perfectly by Blythe Auffarth, will blow your mind and you wont ever forget this if you can sit through it. Its artful, like a good film would be but subtly goes places darker than anything ever depicted in a hollywood film. Severely moving and highly recommended.
