Movie Reviews of The Girl Next Door

Movie Review: The Most Disturbing Film I Have Ever Seen
Summary: 5 Stars

I love horror films and I have seen some disturbing scenes in movies before. However, the torture scenes in The Girl Next Door are so disturbing, it chills you to the bone. I was sitting on the edge of my seat in my room wincing at one horrible thing after another. I think the most disturbing is not what is seen but what is suggested by the mother character and how willing the kids are to act on her orders. Disturbing nature aside, this film is very good. The scenes are well-directed and the script paints a very good picture of life in a time where this sort of crime could happen because of, ironically, how innocent a time it was. I recommend the film with caution, as it is not for everyone and certain people won't be able to get past the torture scenes, to see the film for what it really is.

Movie Review: The Most Emotionally Powerful (But Painful) Movie I've Ever Seen
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm going to keep this short, because I don't want to give ANYTHING away. I'll never forget this movie, as it will stay with me forever. My husband couldn't finish it, but I did and when I did I realized it was worth it. The movie IS promoting a good cause and I am shocked to hear that people think this is a horror movie, when actually it's an unfulfilled love story, the morals of being a good parent, and the roles kids have in society. Definitely not a horror movie. I honestly recommend this to anyone and everyone. It did take 9 years just to get the movie in production, and another year to make it. Many Movie Companies weren't willing to go as far as this movie does, but reguardless, people need to know the facts and what can happen to children and what they can do to help.

Movie Review: The aftermath is very distrubing
Summary: 5 Stars

I am going to make this as short as possible. This movie will catch you off guard. The movie starts off like just a normal view, kids playing, just a normal atmosphere. But as time goes on it gets more intense and by the end of this movie, it is just disturbing. This is based on a true story. I watched this movie about three months ago, and when I think of the girl next door or even run across it in my dvd collection, I pause and still get a strange uncomfortable feeling. This is one of those stories you will never forget that stays with you after the fact. Don't get me wrong this is a very good movie. But if you are overly sensitive to children, my advice is don't watch it.

Movie Review: Perverse, shocking, mesmerising!
Summary: 5 Stars

Wow, a piece of cinema that won't leave your mind quite easily. Right from the very beginning I felt myself dragged in to the story, my eyes wide open witnessing every character, their every single move. 'Girl next door' throws immense light on the ill-mannerism of certain guardians and how their own children are influenced as well. The incidents taking place were based on a true story and that is one of the prior reasons that makes the film horrifying, also a fabulous cast performance from almost everyone in the film, encouraged by neat and good direction is a strong reason to see this rare gem. A genuinely disturbing little masterpiece, not to be missed at all.

Movie Review: The Ultimate in Depravity
Summary: 5 Stars

I have seen a lot of horror movies. From the Guinea Pig Films to the best\worst in Euro-Asian-American shock cinema.

There are few, if any movies out there than can reach such a level in depravity as the Girl Next Door. This movie based on the true story is so horrifying, you will wish you never saw it. That being said, the film is remarkably well done. From the acting the production values, to the care of leaving the gore one frame away.

For those that enjoyed Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer - The Girl Next Door is the new standard. Nothing, but nothing out there is more horrifying than this film.
