Movie Reviews of The Gift

Movie Review: Edge on you seat thriller/mystery
Summary: 5 Stars

The movie was definatelty worth watching. It left me on the edge through out it and jumpy making me guess, guess, and guess again til the end. It is a drama full of thriller and a very well made mystery. I gotta say, if you haven't seen this movie yet, you should go out and rent it. I'm gonna purchase it on DVD this weekend.

Cate Blanchett plays Annie Wilson who is a physic who sees things before and after they happen. She tries to help out one client played by Hilary Swank when her abusive husband Donnie played by Keanu Reeves gets in the middle and threatens Cate to stop. And then threatens her kids. When a local women Jessica King Played by Katie Holmes disappears after having an affair early that evening with Donnie. Donnie ends up getting accused. From then on the movie will leave on your seat wondering if Donnie is innocent or not? I know the answer to that only cause I seen the movie. So what are you waiting for. Go out and rent the DVD.

Movie Review: BLANCHETT'S GIFT
Summary: 5 Stars

Cate Blanchett is brilliant in the leading role of Annie Wilson in this wonderful movie. Blanchett is approaching Streep-status in her ability to completely embrace her role and pivot a movie into its highest potential. She is aided by a wonderful script by Billy Bob Thornton and Tom Epperson; the beautiful and evocative music by Christopher Young; Jamie Anderson's gorgeous camerawork and a stupendous supporting cast: Hilary Swank, Greg Kinnear (a much better actor than one would have thought); Keanu Reeves (his most effective performance yet); Giovanni Ribisi (remarkable in his role as a troubled car mechanic); Gary Cole, Kim Dickens, Katie Holmes, and even Rosemary Harris' small role as Annie's grandma. Sam Raimi's pacing is excellent, and there are some extremely powerful scenes.
But the movie is Miss Cate's and she is awesome to watch.
A real winner!

Movie Review: Visions And Portents...
Summary: 5 Stars

Small town psychic reader, Annie Wilson (Cate Blanchett from the Lord Of The Rings trilogy) finds herself caught up in the storm caused by the disappearance of a young woman (Katie Holmes), her impossibly nice fiancé (Greg Kinnear), a wife-beater and his victim (Keanu Reaves and Hilary Swank), and a mentally ill tow-truck driver (Giovanni Ribisi). Annie is the central figure, using her gift to help the police locate the missing girl. Unfortunately, nothing is as it seems, and everyone's a suspect! THE GIFT is another solid thriller from director Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, Darkman, A Simple Plan). He's got quite an ensemble to work with here. I love the entire cast, but Ribisi's character is my favorite. He is somehow endearing and frightening at the same time. If you are a mystery / thriller / horror fanatic, then this one will satisfy. Highly recommended...
