Movie Review: An excellent movie with much to learn
Summary: 5 Stars
I enjoyed the film, The Genesis Children immensely. Why? The film is a puzzle - its entertaining, challenging and fun to solve. The artistic components within the film are beautiful and reassuring. (To date, I have not solved all "whys" in the film.). The film has message and meaning. The film's plot interweaves god, religion, human traits and needs. The film has humor. In my humble opinion, the film would be worthy of formal study at an institution of higher learning - college/university level film class.
This is not a Homer Simpson, crack open a Duff, veg out on the couch, you get it film. Pay attention or you will miss vital clues. It helps to have broad perspectives with unbiased views - objectivity.
A downside of the film. It can be difficult to correlate character faces, actions, and verbiage within the film. (There may be a reason for this.) This situation can make it difficult to understand the plot. The acting style seems kludge at times, but there is reason for this - an unsolved puzzle piece.
What I have learned so far - four clues. Do not read further if you do not want to know. The first clue was given in paragraph one. The second clue, the time line is non contiguous. Within some, but not all non contiguous time line segments, time jumps around. This method of delivery has reason, but non-the less makes viewing challenging.
I have read, but not researched, the film is/was controversial. Do not know why but theorize, the nudity may be one reason. To suggest the nudity is exploitive, homoerotic, or for whom ever knows what reason, is absurd. (judging, sorry, one half clue) The nudity and all other artistic components within the film are beautifully delivered to weave a plot - third clue.
If you desire challenge, desire to learn objective thinking and want to be entertained, I highly recommend this film. As stated in the film, "you cannot be taught, you can only learn." This is my forth clue.

In the twenty-six-year history of Award Films, no film has generated more public interest, or controversy, than THE GENESIS CHILDREN. The legend began after the film's initial theatrical release was cut short by oil tycoon/producer Billy Byars, who felt his creation was being misunderstood. But perhaps confusion was always his intention, since the original title for this art house hot-potato was "?." After a long search Award Films was able to resurrect the film onto video so that film buffs can once again ponder the mysteries of this visually stunning underground cinema curiosity.Similar DVD Movies
