Movie Reviews of The Frisco KidMovie Review: At last it's on DVD!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Wonderful movie with Gene Wilder and Harrison Ford! This is definately a must have!
In this wacky tale of the old west, Rabbi Avram Belinsky starts out in Poland to his congregation in San Francisco. He gets robbed, mistakenly helps in a bank robbery, and finally makes it to California with the help of a very young Harrison Ford, who plays Tommy the bank robber.
This comedy stands up to time and will make you laugh out loud.
My only regret is that there were no special features on this DVD.
Movie Review: An Overlooked Pleasure Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of those gems, that strangely enough was completely overlooked in its theatrical release. With the talent of Wilder & Harrison playing off each other beautifully, a top director in Aldrich, the public stayed away in droves, and the critics dismissed it as slow, and not working. Forget all that and enjoy the magic of the rabbi and the bandit, as they set about travelling across the USA - the best and warmest buddy movie of them all. A pleasure loaded with warmth - a true feel-good movie.
Movie Review: Still holds up... Summary: 5 Stars
I remembered watching this as a kid, and was amazed to see how well it held up after all these years. Harrison Ford was such a new face, but Gene Wilder was always a draw. His comedy and timimg are impeccable. It reminds me that comedy doesn't have to be disgusting, vulgar, exaggeratedly immature, or over the top ignorant to be entertaining.
Movie Review: Frisco Kid is Frisco Fun Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great comedy that you don't need to Jewish to enjoy. There are no slow parts, to this movie, just good clean wholesome fun. The movie focuses more on friendship and the building of relationships rather than the typical no plot comedy movies of today. It's an endearing movie. This is a great movie for all ages. A smart, terriffic comedy.
Movie Review: Great Comedy of 1970s Summary: 5 Stars
I remember seeing this movie in the late 1970s on early cable and it has always stuck with me.
Gene Wilder as Jewish rabbi and Harrison Ford as the tough a-hole cowboy who softens up over time to Wilders personality and charm.
This may be Wilders 2nd best movie, just behind "Young Frankenstein"
