Movie Reviews of The FrightenersMovie Review: Not frightening, but damn entertaining Summary: 5 Stars
For the mainstream movie goers i would say that this is a 3 1/2 to 4 star movie, but i personally love it. THis movie is not a horror movie. It is more of a n action/thrillrer. Every now and then someone will pop up from behind a corner and cause a quick jump, but thats it. The story is what makes this movie great. THe whole thing moves along at a beautiful pace and never seems drawn out or slow. All the characters in this movie have there own strange personalities that add to the overall strange yet, fun feel of the film. You may want to rent it before you buy it, because there are some moments of gore as well and the movie is kinda strange. THe dvd looks and sounds great. The picture is clear and crisp, and every sound from bullets to the reapers scithe opening can be heard. Buy this one on dvd.
Movie Review: I love it! Summary: 5 Stars
For years I avoided seeing this movie because of the awful cover art on the DVD. Will somebody please get this fabulous film a cover worthy of its content? To look at it, one would never assume that it is a rollicking comedy that takes perfect aim at satirizing the horror genre, and does it all to perfection!
The special effects are so much fun, and without question, this is one of Michael J. Fox's best films. I have no doubt that the popularity of this underrated film will soar as word-of-mouth from those who passed it over initially but LOVE IT now gets around!
If you are a fan of Michael J. Fox and you haven't yet seen this film, buy it sight-unseen with confidence.
Bravo!
Movie Review: Haley Osment Isn't The Only One That Can See Dead People Summary: 5 Stars
And I thought "The Sixth Sense" was scary! But boy was I wrong! "The Frighteners" is a truely more gory and exciting wild ride from Peter Jackson. And with Michael J. Fox, it makes it even better. This film as some pretty intense special effects in it that will blow your mind away.... In "The Frighteners," we meet this guy Frank Bannister (Michael J. Fox) who believes in death for a living and tries getting rid of the distrubing poltriguiest. There's just something about this movie that chilled my bones with the wonderful perfomance by these actors. If it weren't for Robert Zemeckis and Peter Jackson, this film wouldn't be as heart pounding, edge-of-your-seat excitment! Wonderfully well done!
Movie Review: This Movie Must Not Be Forgotten! Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great one of a kind movie. This movie has some really moody scary moments, it has some really funny moments and a believable dramatic back story. Michael J. Fox shines in this against type performance. The special effects are first rate...take that George Lucas! I went to see this in the theater and I remeber a fat lazy jerk falling asleep and snoring through half the movie only to leave at the end and sneak into Independence Day. I just remember thinking anyone who didn't appreciate this movie was really missing out. Peter Jackson is a film lover first and foremost and you can always tell when you watch any of his movies, this man has passion, take that Mel Gibson!
Movie Review: A nail-biter that makes you laugh Summary: 5 Stars
I've never understood why this movie did so poorly at the box office but this is one of the most underappreciated films I've ever seen. The movie begins with a lot of humor and only an undertone of menace. As it progresses, the danger level and intensity gradually get cranked up to major proportions.Michael J Fox is great but the movie is filled with characters that are unique, three dimensional, and well acted. About the only reservations I have in recommending this movie universally is if you don't like getting scared or if you don't like any humor mixed in with your horror then you probably should look elsewhere. For anyone else, enjoy!
