Movie Reviews of The Fox and the Hound 2Movie Review: Disappointed Summary: 2 Stars
I remember watching the first Fox and the Hound many years ago and I just loved it. I hated seeing Tod and Copper grow up, but still the movie was great. When I saw that they would remain young in the 2nd movie, I was very anxious to see it.
Unfortunately, I don't think they spend enough time on the two main characters, Tod and Copper. And the plot is off for it to be a sequel. The main character is now a dog named Dixie. This is Reba McIntyre's character and she does do a great job.
The storyline goes that Copper tries his hand at being a singing celebrity and he spends all his time with some singing dogs instead of Tod. So Tod and Copper don't interact as much, which I thought was the best part of the first movie, because they acted like kids and they were sooooo cute.
Tod and Copper were just not as cute in this movie as they were in the first.
Reba and Trisha's singing voices were the highlights. I was excited that Jeff Foxworthy was in the movie, because he makes cute characters, but his character was too minor for him to have an effect.
Bambi II was excellent and I thought that the Fox and the Hound 2 would follow that same excellence but it didn't. It's not a bad movie, it is a bad sequel, in my opinion.
Movie Review: Fox and Hound in parallel universe. Summary: 2 Stars
What a mess. At the very beginning one of my young sons realized that the fox and the hound were babies again and they didn't understand what was going on. Was Disney so creatively bankrupt that they couldn't figure out how to come up with a continuation of the original Fox and the Hound?
Here's some ideas for Fox and Hound 3:
Some evil real estate developers buy up all the woods and farm land and the grown-up fox and hound organize a revolt among all the forest critters.
The Fox's puppies and the Hound move to the city and share an apartment. What could go wrong?
The Fox and the Hound notice that climate change is ruining the forest, and they work together to fight global warming.
One of the Fox's offspring and one of the Hound's offspring get together and start hanging around with the wrong crowd at the local junkyard and...oops, that was Lady and the Tramp 2.
Anyway, there's certainly a lot that could have been done with this, but I wish they hadn't done something so disorienting to the little ones.
Movie Review: The sequel stinks Summary: 2 Stars
I just got The Fox and the Hound 2 and I saw it and I was very disappointed. It doesn't even compare to the original at all. It's only 69 minutes but really less than that and is a rip off. The first one is 83 minutes long and at least as better charaters and a more powerful story. I recommend sticking with getting the first one or more of the Disney classics but usually the sequel is a flop. I'm only going to keep it as it might be worth money later. They could have made the story stronger. There was no big mama and all these new characters that didn't make any sense. I believe Disney could have done better than this. I say if you're considering this, save your money, and get a Disney classic with a good story.
Movie Review: Got what I paid for Summary: 2 Stars
The low price for this movie seemed too good to be true, and upon opening my parcel, it was too good to be true. The quality of the front and back covers was on par with the average bootleg dvd that I've seen. Things got even more concerning when I looked at the dvd itself and noticed that the back of it had a blue-ish color and a blue ring around it that I have not encountered before. After comparing it with other recent Disney dvds and some other movies, none of them looked the same. I haven't yet played this movie, and I'm already concerned with it because it looks nothing like what is shown on amazon. Hopefully it will work, but if it doesn't it won't be too much of a loss.
Movie Review: Just not the same "Hound Dog". Summary: 2 Stars
I have the original Fox and The Hound and have watched it many times.
This new sequel does not tug at the heart like the first, therefore, this new storyline seems rather silly. Do see the original first, otherwise, you may miss a wonderful family film.
