Movie Review: Laughter is the best medicine and this is the pharmacy

If laughter is the best medicine, this film is the pharmacy.
Jerry Lewis is Jerome Littlefield, the disorderly orderly. Jerome is an orderly in a private hospital that seems to be half
medical hospital and half mental hospital. And with Jerome acting as their orderly, more and more people are slipping over to
the nut house wing.
Jerome is one of the basic Lewis characters. The really nice well intended kid that is just too inept to do anything right. A
walking disaster looking for a place to happen. (Think Stan Laurel) He proceeds to drive both staff and patients crazy.
The film is filled with funny medical gags. For example one morning before giving an elderly patient his breakfast he proceeds
to forceably brush the old mans teeth for him. Until in the middle of this process he notices that the old fellows teeth are sitting
in a glass of water next to his bed.
The supporting characters also add much to the film. Especially Kathleen Freeman as nurse Higgins.
I loved this movie when I was a kid. Now I find at age 52 it`s still just as funny. Timeless humor.
