Movie Reviews of The Devil's ArithmeticMovie Review: Age differences in book and movie Summary: 4 Stars
I found both the book and the movie to be very sad and poignant, like many people. As to the age differences between the main characters in the book as opposed to the movie, someone said "maybe the director wanted to work with more mature actors." That could be true, it also could be that at the time the movie was made, there were no 12 year old actresses (or actresses who could look 12) available who were well known enough.
Movie Review: Great Movie Summary: 4 Stars
The movie was very good. I enjoyed it and so did my students. It was a difficult trying to explain to my children that it's ok for the movie to be different from the book. Although they enjoyed the movie, they were a bit critical because they felt that many important parts were missing. Overall, it was a very educational movie. However, I will recommend that you read the book before watching the movie. Thanks...
Movie Review: Good Movie for Young Teens Summary: 4 Stars
I am a middle school teacher, and I teach a unit in 7th grade on "Injustice". One part of the unit is about the Holocaust. The movie "The Devil's Arithmetic" was a good movie to show to this age group about the atrocities of the that time. The students could relate to the main character, who is a teenage girl, and the acts of brutality in the movie where appropriate for the theme and audience.
Movie Review: The Devil's Arithmetic Summary: 4 Stars
The film, "The Devil's Arithmetic" is very moving. The details were uncanny and the actress did a very good job. I enjoyed it very much and hope that others will be able to see how moving it was.
Movie Review: Holocaust Summary: 4 Stars
This is an excellent companion to any Holocaust unit. My students , both male and female, enjoy this film. It is well written, and the acting is superb.
