Movie Review: Very Good Movie for Young Adults
Summary: 5 Stars
I have not read the book, but I have studied the Holocaust extensively.
I am stunned that a few people say that it was not realistic enough, or that it was "watered down." This is a family movie!! This is a movie that is a good introduction to the Holocaust for 12-14 year olds. Do you really want a 12 year old to watch the Pianist or Schindler's List????
The plot is lacking, and the acting could be improved. But this was a made for TV movie, and for what it is, it is great. Real enough to bring a tear to my eye.
If you're an adult, I would not recommend it. But if you want to introduce the Holocaust to your teenager, it is an amazing movie.

FIRST OF ALL I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT ANYONE WHO WOULD WATCH THIS MOVIE AND EXPECT SOME WONDERFUL MOVIE THRILL OR SENSATION IS VERY DISTURBING. THIS MOVIE HURT VERY SOUL TO KNOW THAT SOMEONE COULD HAVE THAT MUCH EVIL AND HATETRED IN THEIR HEART TO HURT SO MANY PEOPLE. THE TALE OF MASS MURDER AND GENOCIDE IS HEARTRENCHING AND I AM SO APPAULLED THAT THERE IS STILL SO MUCH IGNORANCE IN THE WORLD THAT UGLY PEOPLE VIEW THESE PAST HORROR TRAGEDIES AND JUDGE THEM SO STUPIDLY INSTEAD OF LEARNING FROM THEM AND TRYING TO BETTER THEMSELVES AS HUMAN BEINGS. With this movie you so not quite understand the naming of the movie. If however you read the book you will understand the title. Why they left out that detail I do not understand.
That being said it is a great movie. It helps a modern day teenager understand what her aunt went thru during the holocaust. He actually lives it~ sort of a Wizzard of OZ type experience.
The movie is suitable for ages 9 and up I would say with parents. It is such a story of love and sacrifice, survival of the human spirit.
I highly recommend this movie.

I lke this movie.It is about this girl who is from the future and she transports to the past where the nazi's and the concentration camps are.I am only 11 but I really liked this movie.And its a little bit scary.I watched it with my brother.And it showsw you nearly ALL the things the nazi's have done in the past.There is like a wedding and like lots of Jews are there and than the Nazi's come and fire the houses and they take the Jews to the concentration camp.And at the end the girl gets back to the future.You should really see this movie.Movie Review: Educator

I have purchased this DVD for my own collection to view at my leisure with my two children at home. I am an English teacher at one of our local middle schools. I have introduced the Holocaust theme and have shown this movie (from our school library collection)as a class study and all my students have been moved by this movie. They enjoyed it very much and could finally understand the Holocaust movement of prejudice and discrimination. I highly recommend this DVD to any educator introducing the HOLOCAUST!
