Movie Reviews of The Deep

Movie Review: A Bermuda Triangle...
Summary: 5 Stars

Gail (Jecqueline Bisset) and David (Nick Nolte) are on vacation in Bermuda, when their trip turns into a dangerous adventure. THE DEEP is a movie full of treasure hunting, greed, and intrigue. Gail and David discover a sunken ship loaded w/ bottles of morphine while scuba-diving. They also find a mysterious medallion from 1714. The couple shows their find to a local treasure hunter (Robert Shaw) who eventually decides to help them. Unfortunately, their secret is found out by a powerful criminal (Louis Gosset) and his gang, who set out to persuade our heroes to include them in their persuit. The rest is a race to get to the treasure; complete w/ knives, chases, double-crosses, murder, voodoo rituals, a gigantic, killer-moray eel, explosives, and a legendary boat-house showdown between two muscle-men using an outboard motor as a weapon! As if this weren't enough, we also get the opening scene w/ Ms. Bisset swimming around in her magic T-shirt! Oh my goodness! Yep, this one's a keeper...

Movie Review: They don't make 'em this good anymore!
Summary: 5 Stars

A brilliant and engrossing movie which closely follows Peter Benchley's novel on treasure hunt in the carribean. Spectacular views and under-water footage, all accented by one of John Barry's finest musical scores which lends mystery and expectation to various scenes and sustains an atmosphere of suspense throughout the movie. Top performances by Robert Shaw and Louis Gosset. Even Nick Nolte and Jaqueline Bisset were at their best, the latter sporting a semi-transparent underwater mask so that you're positive no stuntwoman was employed for the under water scenes. Elli Walsh is at his usual sleezy best. Great movie and great music. See it!

Movie Review: BEST UNDERWATER SUSPENSE FILM FOR ALL-TIME!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is it, the best underwater suspense film for all-time.Gail Berke and David Sanders are diving of Bermuda, when they stumble upon a load of morphine and a Spanish treasure.A chase ensues between a veteran diver, Romer Treece, and Drug lord, Cloche, who is after the priceless cargo of morphine, and will do anything to get it.Bermuda never looked so good. The DVD version is widescreen, and digitally remastered, so you are assured to get the bright whites of the houses, the lush green grasses, and the deep blue of the ocean. This is a must see movie, pick it up as soon as possible.

Movie Review: Forget Into the Blue, this is a much better movie !
Summary: 5 Stars

2005 remake of the Deep (into the blue) is not bad. But the Deep (1977) is a much better film. The photography is much nicer, and in my humble opinion, even the sexy Jessica Alba is no match to miss Bisset in her prime. And Louis Gosset Jr is one of the best villain of all time in this movie. The treasure hunt story is OK, predictable but quite entertaining. The new budget DVD is presented only in Full Screen which is a big disappointment, find the older release which include both WS and FS Version. Highly recommended and did I mention Bisset's Wet T Shirt. Classic.

Movie Review: One of the last great adventures with Robert Shaw
Summary: 5 Stars

The late, great Robert Shaw returns to sea in one of his final screen appearances with a young Nick Nolte and the beautiful Jacqueline Bisset in a fast-paced deep-sea thriller! Nolte and Bisset stumble on the wreckage of an 18th-century treasure ship and must race a local drug dealer for the plunder. Filmed in six oceans around the world, this great adventure story is even more captivating for the visual splendor of the deep. The underwater sequences are spectacular, and despite its age (released in 1977), "The Deep" still entertains. highly recommend
