Movie Review: A beautiful and timeless classic.
Summary: 5 Stars

The Deep is one of those movies that lingers with for a long time after you watch it.
Based on the second bestseller book by Peter Benchley (of Jaws fame) the story is pretty standard: a young couple spending their honeymoon in Bermuda find a piece of treasure while diving in the beautiful blue waters. That piece they found, they discover, belongs to a cargo of riches that was being transported by a Spanish galleon from the Americas to Europe several centuries ago, but never made it to its destination. Unfortunately, mixed with the treasure they also discovered ampules filled with morphine which belonged to a sunken World War II ship. When a drug lord find out that the morphine ampules have been discovered, he wants to know the location and he won't stop at anything in order to get his hands on them. If this story sound familiar to younger audiences, it's because the is another movie loosely based on the same book, named Into The Blue, filmed in 2005 with Paul Walker and Jessica Alba reprising the roles of Jacqueline Bisset and Nick Nolte.
The scenery and underwater photography is breathtaking. We have a chance to see both Jacqueline Bisset and Nick Nolte in their youthful prime and beauty, and we get to see the venerable Robert Shaw in his final role.
Even though this movie goes back 32 years, it is still full of beauty and suspense.
