Movie Reviews of The Darjeeling Limited

Movie Review: A Pleasant Surprise
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this dvd to add to my collection of Owen Wilson films, and I had mixed expectations that I would like it. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I did enjoy it, and I watched it 3 times consecutively before I picked anything else to watch. I enjoyed the dynamic of the relationship of the brothers, the quest and the conclusion. I don't want to reveal to much of the story for those who have not yet watched it, but I found the visuals breathtaking and the story uplifting. Writing about it makes me want to watch it again.

Movie Review: Excellent
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a wonderfully charming, poignant, gorgeous film. As a long time Wes Anderson fan, I highly recommend it. One hint for folks who are new to Anderson's odd cinematic tales: watch them a second time. The first time you're along for the ride, wondering where this strange guy is taking you. The second time around, you become aware of the journey's nuances, hidden meanings, and you feel like you've discovered a gem.

Movie Review: Wes Anderson does it again
Summary: 5 Stars

Beautiful to look at; rich texture in visuals, sound and smell with well developed characters. Hard to believe he can convey so much in so little time. Special, like the last 3 he has done for us; this one has something else that is bigger in meaning and insight giving. I have recommended it to many already including my two sons in film and television at Columbia College, Chicago.

Movie Review: My Lord Ganesha.
Summary: 5 Stars

There is a moment in this movie that literally took the breath out of me. The three of them are sitting infront of a fire and you hear Claude Debussy's Claire de Lune and Owen says, "Let's get high" and they're in India. And I just felt like, god, I dunno, it was a transcendental moment for me. Wes Anderson, Roman Coppola, Jason Schwartzman, I can't even find words.

Movie Review: Amazing
Summary: 5 Stars

It was terrific. A good heart felt movie about discovering oneself in a seemingly hopeless situation. My two brothers and I plan on going on a cross country road trip this summer because of this movie. Its also very funny.
