Movie Reviews of The Darjeeling Limited

Movie Review: tender and authentic
Summary: 5 Stars

All his past films stand behind this one like approving ghosts, as this is the best movie yet, a wonderful film, feeling its way against a backdrop so beautiful, so poignant that it becomes the lead character in the film, allowing the others to find the point/validation/ revelation they are seeking and bringing all of us --audience, characters, ghosts -- to a nearly perfect phrasing of what he has been trying to say relationships and idealism and hope from his earliest movies. While the personal, unpolished edges / dialogue delivery, reminds me of Woody Allen's quest-through-film, Anderson's earnestness is both more universal and more intimate. And honest with love and humor. I loved this film, every moment.

Movie Review: anyone with brothers gotta see this
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this movie because I can so relate to it being that i have 3 brothers and we are all adults now, with different personalities that sometimes clash but always fit back into an important puzzle that defines each one of us. Very funny and beautiful pictures of India. I love the lines like " could you please not order for me," or "before we go on our spiritual journey I have a daily itinerary for each of us." I just burst out laughing cause I have a brother who is exactly like Owen Wilson's character. The dialog in this movie should make you laugh unless you have the personality of a dead moth. I liked the soundtrack as well it made me break out my Ravi Shankar cd.

Movie Review: Unlimited comedy and tearful humanity
Summary: 5 Stars

Wes Anderson directs this movie about three brothers on a spiritual journey. In true comedy form, we get to see the brotherly love and jealously that siblings often have for each other. I knew this was going to be a wonderful comedy, but what always takes me aback is the soulful humanity that is in Wes Anderson movies. Once again we get to see Owen Wilson, Bill Murray (in a cameo), Jason Schwartzman, and Anjelica Huston. But we also see the great Adrien Brody playing one of the three brothers. While your laughing, you just might be surprised to find tears falling. This is a wonderful film to share with family.

Movie Review: For the lover of nuances
Summary: 5 Stars

I have watched this movie five times now, and listened to the music umpteen times, and everytime I find myself delighting in a new nuance. I love to get engulfed in this movie...in the quirky relationship of the brothers... in the lovely, lovely music that is timed just right...and the lush visuals. And the more I see of the movie, the more I realize that it is not only beautiful and sensitive, it is also very deep and intelligent. The brothers are seeking a spiritual goal in the land of Hinduism, and isnt it symbolic that they attain it finally as they get rid of their luggage?

Movie Review: Excellent Movie
Summary: 5 Stars

Prior to purchasing this movie by Wes Anderson I viewed it in a local theater. I thoroughly enjoyed it and watched anxiously for it to be available for pre-order. If you have seen and enjoyed Wes Anderson's previous films you will probably enjoy this one. It holds the same type of comedy as you would find in Royal Tenenbaums or The Life Aquatic. Each character has his or her unique quirks that add to the hilarity of the film. However, this type of comedy is not for everyone. While I enjoyed it enough to own it some of my friends found it less than entertaining.
