Movie Reviews of The Cadfael Collection

Movie Review: Super collection!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is an excellent series and a great collection. It is well done in all the smallest details and gives a great view of English history. The stories a top notch and realistic. My only problem is with the box- the discs seem ready to snap before they release from the plate. Small thing, though. My daughter and I got it for my wife for Christmas and we all love it!

Movie Review: Great viewing
Summary: 5 Stars

I remember watching this in the 90's. A really great series that does a reasonable job displaying 12th century England. As another reviewer posted, if you remember watching these when they are aired on PBS's Mystery, you will miss the 30 second introduction.
The video quality is not high. It was more enjoyable to watch on an older TV.

Movie Review: Great time
Summary: 5 Stars

For those that love mistery series, this one is great. I had a good time enjoying Cadfael solving misteries using his sharp mind and herbology knowledge. The enviroment is also great, an Abiss in England at 1138/40, during the civil war. Mr. Jacobi is again great in this series. For the ones that love this kind of series it's a great choice!

Movie Review: Production correction
Summary: 5 Stars

Most Americans automatically assume that all British TV productions are produced by or for the BBC. One of the reviewers of this called it a BBC production. Well Cadfael isn't a BBC production. It was produced by Central Television for the UK's ITV network. A rival network in the UK to the BBC.
It was a brilliant series.

Movie Review: Indeed, Brother Cadfael does not disappoint!
Summary: 5 Stars

Having somehow missed this series during the 1990s, I recently stumbled on the complete collection and the 5-star reviews it got were right on. Narration by Jacobi would have been nice but not essential to the tales. Hint: look for the set on amazon.co.uk. If you have a multi-region player, you'll save a bundle on the cost!
