Movie Reviews of The Buddy Holly Story

Movie Review: Buddy Holly Lives
Summary: 5 Stars

An excellent adaptation of the life and death of rock and roll musical pioneer Buddy Holly.

Gary Busey is outstanding in the title role and his singing rates up there. The rest of the cast (even though most of them are unknown) are an added plus and helps keep the audience in step with the "plot".

The mid-fifties rock and roll music is outstanding and if you are old enough to remember it all the better.

A good movie to watch with the sound on loud!

Movie Review: Rave On
Summary: 5 Stars

Buy this one just to savor the three Buddy Holly numbers played during Apollo Theater concert. Authentic musician Busey gives a memorable and true performance, full of flash and dash, which does honor to the legendary rocker. I was a little embarrassed for Charles Martin Smith when he tried to plunk the stand-up bass like a guitar in the scene, but that's what he does best, right? You gotta love the guy. The drummer comes off a jerk, but that's Hollywood.

An excellent movie I was searchirg for years to buy.
Since I saw on a late night TV presentation, I got amazed with the actors performances.
Along playing the roles they played the instruments and sang live all the songs.
It's an accurate view of Buddy holly's life and achievements with an awesome interpretation of Buddy from Gary Busey.

Movie Review: Music History
Summary: 5 Stars

Buddy Holly brought great music to MY era. I saw it in the theater when it was first released and again just a couple of days ago thanks to Amazon. I remember the plane crash in the movie, but this DVD ended with Buddy Holly on stage in the last appearance he would ever make.

Movie Review: Buddy Holly lives.
Summary: 5 Stars

My daughter cries every time she sees this movie and she wasen't born until 1970. It is a movie classic. The music is great and Gary Busey does a fine acting job. The best one I've ever seen him do. Well worth buying if you like rock and roll.
