Movie Reviews of The Brothers

Movie Review: Look, don't listen
Summary: 2 Stars

The brothers are gorgeous, but the acting is awful. I guess the writing could have been better. There are some funny scenes, but other than that, just look!!

Movie Review: You're kidding me, right?
Summary: 1 Stars

This is a waste of film. I don't know what the NAACP Image awards were thinking when they actually NOMINATED this ..against Will Smith's "Ali" for Best Film of the Year.

This "film" stole from every black film that has come out from the last 15 years. From "Jungle Fever," to "Waiting To Exhale," to "Soul Food," "The Best Man," and "The Wood" to name a few.

Heck, the first 2 minutes of it came straight from "Boyz N The Hood." Morris Chestnut is running away from someone with a gun at his back. Sound familiar? I saw that scene when I saw it at the movie theaters two years ago. Let me tell you, I was so close from yelling "RICKY!" (ala Boyz N The Hood) when I saw the first two minutes.

The only person who's funny in it is D.L. Hughley. Bill Bellamy is supposedly the bad guy in the group, but if your character's own mother doesn't show you love, can you really blame the guy for not caring about women of any race?

It's a waste of film, videotape and DVD data.

And the only reason why I gave it one star because they didn't have a symbol for zero.

PLEASE DO NOT Watch this...not even on free cable.

Movie Review: Glorified fornication passing for a movie!!
Summary: 1 Stars

We take turns in book and movie reviews. Here is my say on this so-called movie/dvd.

The only way to enjoy this dvd is with the sound turned completely off. That's right, just watch the entire movies in silence. At least your eyes will enjoy what will otherwise torture your ears and mind.

Let's see what your ears/mind would miss. (I wish mine had.) Marital breakup over oral sex. Hmmm, oh, father and son dating same female (there are old testament laws against such). Black males and black females can't get along, what's new. And the big mouth no-talent d.l. hughley, yuck.

I knew something was wrong when all my bookclub member could say about this movie is "uh, well morris chestnut is fine." I mean that's all she could say.

Save your money on this dvd and buy a poster of Morris Chestnut, it's less expensive on time and money and mentality.

Movie Review: Didn't like it too much
Summary: 1 Stars

I tried to get into this movie, but it just didn't click with me mainly because I don't like Gabrielle Union. She's just not a good actress to me. She's alright when she's playing the antagonist role to the main character because I don't have to like her, but when she's playing the lead role and I'm forced to cheer for her, it just doesn't work for me. But besides my dislike for Miss Union, I still didn't get into this film I guess because it was like the male version of Waiting to Exhale and being a woman I couldn't relate. Also another thing that bothered me was that the male leads didn't really mesh well together as best friends, it was like they were just forced together. Don't get me wrong I love all of the male leads, but together they just didn't click.

Movie Review: This movie was bad
Summary: 1 Stars

I was very disappointed at this movie. The typical male bull story about men who cannot (or find reasons not to) commit, the desparate woman (Jenifer Lewis) who sits back and waits for a man who she used to be married to until he's all played out. I wished I had not ordered this movie from PPV. Next time I'll ask someone.
