Movie Reviews of The Brothers Grimm

Movie Review: Far Better Than People Think
Summary: 5 Stars

Many of these reviews are hard on this film, I thought it was great. I was constantly looking for references to various fairy tales, there were so many that I'm sure I missed some. The enchanted forest wasfabulously designed, and the film's humor is great. It's not a drama or action film, as I'm sure many people would expect, it's more of a comedy, and myself and those I watched it with all found it to be excellent. I rented it, but I'm considering adding it to my collection.

Movie Review: Very pleased with movie
Summary: 5 Stars

Excellent! I didn't think I'd like the adaptation of the famed creators of strange, and sometimes haunting, fairytales, but I was wrong. The movie was entertaining, humorous, and wonderfully done. There's enough horror to keep your eyes wide open and enough twists to keep the viewer guessing. The acting was superb. Highly recommended for anyone's home DVD library.

Movie Review: Brothers Grimm is a interesting, dark, disturbing, GREAT MOVIE!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I saw this movie in the theater with very low expectations from all the reviews I had heard. But it was far from that. I think the reason I liked it so much was because it was not completely "Hollywood-ized". The acting was great in this movie on all accounts, and the story was wonderfully dark. Sometimes a dark sense of humor is needed in order to enjoy it truly I think. Which I apparently have.

Movie Review: Scary and Fun!
Summary: 5 Stars

The movie is scary without being gory. It combines many fairy tales, including Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Rapunzel, Red Riding Hood, and The Princess and the Pea into a single exciting and interesting tale. Terry Gilliam did a wonderful job. If there is a problem with the movie, it is with the audience... modern American audiences are not literate enough to enjoy this movie completely.

Movie Review: A true fairy tale
Summary: 5 Stars

I was captivated by the sharp, tight mix of buffoonery, macabre story telling, and artistic pacing. The funny parts goose you when you don't expect it, evoking laughter just long enough until the story gets serious again. The blending of all the various fairytales into one narrative was flawless and masterful.
And 'Le General' was SUPERB!
