Movie Review: Cronenberg at His Best

It seems like it's always December 21st in Cronenberg movies, because there never seems to be a frame of sunshine or anything bright in his dark, dark films. "The Brood" follows the same dark visual template, but the mental mood of the film is even darker.
Art Hindle is a serious and unsmiling husband whose wife sees a psychiatrist (Oliver Reed) whose "alternative therapies" appear quacky and suspicious.
As Hindle presses deeper in to his wife and the shrinks unsettling behavior, a very creepy group of children emerge as possible culprits in what becomes a nasty legal and moral battle involving Hindle,the wife (Samantha Eggar), the psychiatrist, the in-laws and the daughter.
Freakish and shocking - some of the most disurbing scenes ever put on film.

Finally, an uncut print of THE BROOD. Cronenberg's best film is presented here in a no frills release, however the version of the film is longer (and gorier) than the Japanese, Dutch, French and English DVD versions. It's the same print which was shown on FilmFour in the UK a few years back. The murders and the jaw dropping climax are longer than in any other DVD. Sadly, the print quality is not nearly as good as the beautiful presentation on the (cut) Dutch DVD. Nevertheless, if you want to see the film in it's uncut gory-glory, this is the version to buy!Movie Review: Cronenberg's Masterpiece

This Movie Is A Absolute Masterpiece. Very Twisted , Creepy You Can Expect That From David Cronenberg Though. Any True Horror Buff Should Have This In There Collection.

In David Cronenberg's movie ,he said,half-jokingly, "his version of Kramer vs Kramer", is a very personal kind of film-making. Fuelled by the angst of his own marital breakdown, Cronenberg proved he can handle a more intimate based character drama. The briitle winter setting and the eerie music add to the atmosphere of the movie. The result is a poignant , thoughtful film that must have suprised alot of people. Cronenberg, the "King of Venereal Horror" did it again; This movie is one more classic reflection of this director's style of nightmarish atmosphere with the very good special effects of it's time involving mutation, which is usually in some type of medical horror plot. You can expect the unexpected again though...this one also features it's own originality and twisted ending. These are rarities these days.
