Movie Reviews of The Broken Hearts ClubMovie Review: A Romantic Comedy Summary: 5 Stars
"The Broken Heart's Club: A Romantic Comedy" is just that - a romantic comedy. It is funny. It is bittersweet. It is very real. I loved it.The story tracks the lives of a group gay friends in L.A. with all its ups and downs. It tells the story of their "growing up" as one "comes out," and the others come to terms with important issues in their lives (ex-boyfriends, sisters, pursuit of dreams, conquests, ...). In the end, they realize how important their friendship is. The dialogue is hilarious with gay lingo inserted very cleverly throughout the movie, and the storyline is very accessible. I would definately recommend this movie to anyone - gay or gay-friendly! Bring the pop-corn, and the box of tissues (optional) and enjoy this movie. :) PS: Andrew Keegan is so cute as the "newbie" :)
Movie Review: Charming Summary: 5 Stars
This film was incredibly sweet and charming and just plain fun to watch. It did have a few sad moments, but on the whole is a film that will cheer you up and put a smile on your face. It tells the story of a group of gay friends who have their own amateur baseball team and who are always hanging out at the oldest member of their group, Jack's restaurant. The film is filled with great performances from a number of then relatively unknown actors who have since become much more famous. Its interesting to watch the film now, knowing what some of them have gone on to do in their careers. The film will appeal primarily to gay audiences, but almost anyone will find it fun, touching and a truly honest film about friendships, relationships and the loss of the ones we love.
Movie Review: Great story, touchs your heart. Summary: 5 Stars
Friendship, love, support, setbacks, everything the life have for a friends group. A great story than bring us closer to the real gay persons, I mean, not everything are sex and parties (for that, look at QAF, lol). I really enjoyed this film over and over, and makes me dream with my teen days in the way I wanted to be, and think about what I like to do when my hair becomes white. If you want to feel yourrself romantic and have some whispers from the soul, take a look at this; by the way, the cast are very cute and make great performances. The only "but" is for the script, almost all the gay cinema never touchs the reality of the bisexual life... Us the men who try to love the two sides of the life in a very honest way.
Movie Review: Predictable but endearing Summary: 5 Stars
Yes, it was predictable -- but it was nice to see a "gay" film that wasn't campy or tragic. No finger-snapping, sass-talking drag queens and no AIDS or gay bashing victims. In fact, its realities were much closer to my reality (e.g., jealous, insecure friends who want to undermine your chance at happiness with their "advice," everyone piling into the restroom for a hit of whatever drug everyone's doing, etc.) than many other gay films I've seen. The characters were generally likeable -- especially John Mahoney. The men were a bit too pretty -- despite their whining how everyone was so much better looking than they were.Even so, I liked it, and I'd watch it again.
Movie Review: Perfect for the Dean Cain admirer!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I rented this movie from Netflix and loved it because of the mix of characters, both race and age, the comedy and I have a thing for Dean Cain. He plays a great character in this hilarious movie. I forget the guys name, but the one who plays the Dad on Frasier is in this flick too. He did a great job as well. The code word that they use to identify a cute guy approaching was cool too. My life-long friend and I have a similar action but I think of him every time I see this movie. I suggest that you purchase this movie because I think that you are going to love it just as much as I do. It's kind of like the gay version of St. Elmos Fire. You will not regret this purchase.
