Movie Review: a great sequel, but also a great stand-alone
Summary: 4 Stars
I was in the theater just an hour ago with a little smile on my face as the credits rolled. I could sit here and gush about how much I enjoyed the film, but that wouldn't be much of a review, would it?
Poor Jason Bourne. He just wants to be left alone. But he is a man of his word, and makes good on the threat he made at the end of the last film. And now...poor everyone else.
Why do I like this film so much? Because Matt Damon once again makes the Jason Bourne character so BELIEVABLE. No over-the-top showboating we've seen so many times, ad nauseam. Jason Bourne bleeds, sweats, and feels emotion. He spares us those silly punchlines we've heard in other movies after he dispatches another ersatz assassin, and continues about his business without looking over his shoulder. No wasted movement, no sloppiness, no unnecessary timeouts he can't afford to take. Can I even tell you how refreshing that is? Not that I want them to milk this franchise for all it's worth, but I certainly enjoy what's been done with the character so far.
