Movie Reviews of The Bishop's WifeMovie Review: It's a Wonderful Movie Summary: 5 Stars
I love The Bishop's Wife. This movie is so charming, funny and warm that its mood is completely contagious. Grant is wonderful as the angel, Dudley, and Young and Niven are equally fine as his assignment. Lessons about what's important in life and where your priorities should lie are all here - wrapped up in a big, cheerful bow. This is a great feel-good movie and a true holiday classic.
PS: Do not confuse this with the awful The Preachers Wife and let it scare you away from this gem.
Movie Review: One of my favorite Christmas movies Summary: 5 Stars
Well really, who wouldn't want an angel who looked like Cary Grant?? This is a huge Christmas classic at my house. The re-make, "The Preachers Wife", was sort of an insult to those of us who love this movie. Cary Grant, as always, is absolutely impeccable AND a touch mischievious. David Niven is not at all loveable in this film but that's his problem so...he's forgiven. If you haven't ever seen this, you're missing a wonderful Christmas classic that reminds us of what is really important. FAMILY.
Movie Review: The Bishop's Wife Summary: 5 Stars
OMG! I've watched this film or 30 plus years and still love it just as much every time I view it again. Definitely worth your time to see. If you haven't ever watched this movie - then you're really in for a treat.
Great acting, extremely enjoyable, heartwarming and a good lesson to be learned. Just because it is an older film and there isn't a bunch of cursing and blowing things up you will not enjoy - trust me, you will.
Give it a chance and please check it out.
Movie Review: Truly a Christmas Classic. Summary: 5 Stars
This is my all-time favorite Christmas movie. It is very whimsical and funny, but not overly sappy like It's A Wonderful Life. It also has its serious side as it reminds us what the Christmas spirit really means - both as individuals and a society. These two themes are perfectly exemplefied in the skating and ending sermon scenes respectively. The entire cast does a superb job and the special effects are a lot of fun. They really don't them like this anymore.
Movie Review: A GREAT Christmas movie!!! Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of the best Christmas movies ever made and should be enjoyed every year during the Christmas season...or any time you want to watch a great uplifting movie. With Cary Grant as an angel and Loretta Young as the bishop's wife. The bishop and his wife are growing apart, so an angel comes to show the bishop that he had better save his marriage while he can and that the other problems in his life and with his church aren't as terrible as they seem.
