I think this is one of the finest stories written about the Big Band era. Steve Allen does an excellent job in portraying the genius of Benny Goodman. He like so many of this era had a different sound he was looking for and found it with much success. I also recommend The Glenn Miller Story with James Stewart.Movie Review: Great Biography!!

I have already watched this movie around 10 times. I love it more each time I watch it. I play the clarinet myself and it makes it more interesting to follow along the story as Benny learns to play and becomes an adult. I am no critic, BUT thought that the story line was OK (no hard times shown- other than death of Benny's father) MUSIC - FANTASTIC - Having some of the GREATS involved - OUT STANDING!
