Movie Reviews of The Beastmaster

Movie Review: Praise all that is Holy...finally the Beastmaster on DVD
Summary: 5 Stars

I have to admit that I leapt for joy when I discovered this gem had finally been released on DVD. I don't think it was ever sold in VHS come to think of it. A CRIME I tell ye! Pure snobbery. You won't find a more entertaining example of Sword and Sorcery. You have Rip Torn, That fellow from "V" (purists are now howling for my blood...Mark Singer, now back you savages), Monster Men in Spiked S+M gear, Monsters that squish you into a nast green pudding, and did I mention Rip Torn. Heck there's even a topless Tanya Roberts (My whole life I thought I was seeing more...but the high quality DVD has illuminated me to the fact that she's wearing medieval panties...Yet another dear childhood memory tarnished) Anyway, this movie is well worth the price and if you haven't seen it...please for your own sake...but it at once.

Movie Review: It is better than cats, I will see it again and again
Summary: 5 Stars

There is something magical about this movie -- no matter how many times you have seen it, you are always ready to see it again. By now it has probably built up more airtime than any other movie on USA and TNT, but rather than having to wait for one of their frequent showings, you can own it and watch it on your own terms. Uncut and without commercials too!

Marc Singer is one of the great low budget actors. I really think he does a good job in most of the movies I have seen him in. As the Beastmaster, he is incredible. It is sort of a Dr Doolittle the Barbarian, complete with fighting ferrets, a hawk, a "black panther", and the Beastmaster being born from a cow. The action and stunts are really quite good.

OK, this movie is a bit goofy, but it is so fun to watch! Do not hesitate, buy it now!

Movie Review: The Beastmaster
Summary: 5 Stars

Maax is a twisted cult leader out to steal the thrown of King Zed, but when Zed banishes Maax, he sends one of his three witches to steal Zed's unborn son. Ripping him right out of his mother's womb with magic and placing it a cow's womb, she took him to die. But a brave hunter killed the witch and rescued the young boy. Naming him Dar, they find out at a young age that he possess the power to communicate with animals. But Maax sends his thugs called the horde to wipe out his peaceful village, thanks to a brave dog Dar survived again and makes plans on using his powers to kill Maax to avenge his people and his foster Father. This movie is tremendously entertaining from start to finish. I thoroughly recommend you see this timeless fantasy classic.

Movie Review: ON DVD AT LAST
Summary: 5 Stars

This is very good movie and much better than typical swordtype movies. Marc Singer is very good..then again when isn't he good. He is in incredible shape and handles the stunts well. The camera work is outstanding and the locations are beautiful. The only weak point in the movie is Tanya Roberts' acting. She is much better these days on her sitcom, "That 70s Show". The BeastMaster is very different that the two sequels that followed. This movie is more of an epic while #2 was camp and forgettable and #3 was shot like an episode of Xena. Get this and you will find out why so many people love The BeastMaster and Marc Singer.

Movie Review: Right Up There with Tarzan and other Myths!
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie is as timeless as forever. Marc Singer makes the fable live. The Beastmaster is just one of those totally watchable movies and a family favorite. I don't care how many times it comes on television, I love to watch it. The only weakness is some thin acting by Tanya Roberts. Cinematography by John Alcott adds to the overall golden feel. The animals are great. Rip Torn does an expert job of portraying the mental absence of fanaticism. And just for the fact that there's a treasurable Vanna Bonta cameo appearance is enough to make this a collector's keeper.
