Movie Reviews of The Beast

Movie Review: One of the smartest and best.....
Summary: 5 Stars

One of the smartest and best war movies. The fact that it is more about "people" (culture, situations)
than just blood-letting (the opening scene aside) is to its credit.

I won't repeat what others have written praising the film, other than to say that it is one of the
best photographed films I've seen in quite a while. The shots are just magnificent, be they the sweeping panorama of the barren landscape or the claustrophobic interior of the tank.

And all of the characters (and there are many) come across as extremely authentic.

This is a great film and certainly under-appreciated at the time it was released.

Movie Review: Best War Movie I've Seen!
Summary: 5 Stars

First I would like you all to know I'm 15 and I am not the kind of person to go out an get dvd's from the rental store evrey couple days infact I don't watch much television at all especially war movies after I saw a couple boring vietnamese ones.

The explosions and gunshots were very realistic and I spent all night watching this and was astounded by the story, I refuse to spoil any of the story (Unlike other reviewers...) but I would like all the readers to know the climax of this movie were a very, very, breathless few minutes.

Theres a couple ogrish scenes like it shows the main tank running over a guy in the setting of the story

Movie Review: Outstanding Performances
Summary: 5 Stars

This film is highly underrated.

What is not to like about this compellingly complex tale of David and Goliath? Well, not merely a 'tale', it is also a commentary. A very poignant and familiar one, dealing with the horror of war and its implications.

PROS: astoundingly good performances throughout; well-written; great cinematography; great battle sequences; nice battle suspense.

CONS: story was somewhat predictable; audio.

If you like these kinds of films, you are not going to care if it is predictable.

It is a minor-masterpiece, in my opinion.
Check it out.

Movie Review: Afghanistan
Summary: 5 Stars

After a raid on an Afghan village, a Soviet T-62 tank gets lost from its battalion in a desert valley surrounded with mountains with a single way out, finds itself fighting a group of Afghan moujahiddin.
The movie rotates around the 5 members of the tank, the group of Afghan fighters and their women, and the way each conduct the fight; some to revenge their family killed in the village, some to steal the dead and the crew of the T-62 trying to stay alive.

The movie ranks among the best realistic war movies I have seen.
To name few:
1. Das Boot
2. We were soldiers.
3. Black hawk down

Movie Review: Very realistic! A lone tank fights the mujaheddin for its survival
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of the best war movies I have seen. The story is about a Soviet T-62 tank which loses its way when it returns to its base after a brutal punishing raid against an Afghan village. The mujaheddin swear revenge, forget their inner disputes and try hard to destroy the tank. Finally they will succeed after the Soviet crew itself is split and reduced in number due to the paranoia of its commander. The battle scenes are breath-taking, the surroundings very realistic and the finale most dramatic. Highly recommended to fans of modern war films since it gives a glimpse of Afghanistan culture and war ethics.
