Movie Reviews of The Baby Sitters Club

Movie Review: classic
Summary: 5 Stars

great for younger viewers, honest clean genuine - if you were/are a babysitters club fan you'll enjoy this movie

Movie Review: Far from the book series, but still a treat.
Summary: 4 Stars

The Storyline

The Baby-Sitters Club is a delightful film based on the best-selling book series by Ann M. Martin. The movie features the 7 members of the Baby-Sitters Club: Kristy, Claudia, Mary-Anne, Stacey, Dawn, Mallory, and Jessi. They decide to start a summer camp for the kids in their town with hopes that it will be a success. However, things get in the way when Kristy's (played by Schulyer Fisk, who is Sissy Spacek's daughter) father comes back into her life. Everyone around her, including her fellow members, become suspicious.

The Highs

Schuyler Fisk is wonderful as the BSC tomboyish leader Kristy and the rest of the cast is splendid too! Rachel Leigh Cook (She's All That) is a perfect Mary-Anne as well as Larisa Oleynik's (The Secret World of Alex Mack) performance as the environment and vegetarian obsessed Dawn.

The Lows

Fans may not enjoy the storyline, since most of the book series revolves around the school life of the girls other than summer. I personally would rather see them in a school setting, trying to survive the world of babysitting and 8th grade.

Did You Know?

Actress Marla Sokoloff (Full House fans remember her as Stephanie's friend Gia) plays the bad girl Cokie.
Director Melanie Mayron makes a cameo appearance.

Movie Review: This movie was actually pretty good
Summary: 4 Stars

Throughout Elementary school, I've seen various BSC books strewn about in my school Library and classroom bookshelf. As a boy, I've always viewed the books as nothing but just little girls' novels, and so I tended to avoid the books as much as possible lol. I was about 7 years old when this movie came out, and at that time, the commercials were all over the air waves non-stop. Eventually, after seeing the commercials a billion times a week, I for some reason developed a small interest in wanting to watch the film. Some of my friends who saw the movie said they loved it, so I decided to wait until they started showing it on TV, which it has been on many times but I just never got a chance to catch it. So I gave up trying to watch it for about 12 years, and I totally forgot all about the movie. Now I finally got the chance to watch the film on HBO Family yesterday, and I actually liked it! Although I was never a BSC reader, I thought the movie was good. Though I think the movie would've appealed to me more if I was a kid, so I'll always remember the Baby Sitter's Club as "the movie I should have watched when I was a kid."

Movie Review: Nice film of the series
Summary: 4 Stars

Having enjoyed the books back when I was little, I was excited when this movie came out. It's impossible to fit the whole series into one film, but I think that a nice job was done. The girls chosen for their characters filled their roles nicely, and I enjoyed this film. While everyone has their issues to deal with, one big thing was Kristy and her dad, and the bittersweet that came with it.

Movie Review: Takes me back to my childhood.
Summary: 4 Stars

I love this movie. And I don't have anything bad to say about it. But if you get the DVD be prepared because the movie and the audio tracks do not match. So you hear an actor speak before their mouths move. This drove me crazy but I still enjoyed the movie.
