Movie Reviews of The Aviator [Blu-ray]Movie Review: Great movie, poor Blu-Ray Summary: 2 Stars
I have watched this movie a number of times on DVD, but went and got the blu-ray last week for an upgrade.
While I give the movie 5* the blu-ray disk gets 2* becuase of the poor audio. I found it to be the only BD disk that has required me to put my TVs volume to full 60/60 in order to hear most of what's going on. Any other movies are ok at 25-30/60 volume. While I do have a speaker system that helps greatly in this matter, the volume issue must be something for those without hi-fi systems to consider.
Movie Review: Very boring... Summary: 1 Stars
I only got this Blu-ray because I knew how much acclaim it received years back, it was at a good price (for a Blu-ray) and I thought it'd be something cinematic like Titanic, since Leonard DiCaprio was in it, but I was only bored for what felt 3-4 hours. The story was boring and after about thirty minutes in, I decided to get on the computer and turn down the volume on the TV, because I couldn't take much more of it. I didn't like the cheesy camera effects like the color distortion in the beginning, either. I get how it represents the film's technology according to that time period, but it was pointless imo. Basically, this film failed to entertain me. Why is it, the films that entertain me, like The Phantom of the Opera, get panned by critics, but these types of film win Oscars? I'd liken this movie to an AP essay that follows all the guidelines set by Collegeboard, and the critics to AP readers. In the end they both turn out to be formulaic and dull.
