Movie Reviews of The Art of ViolinMovie Review: A must for the serious violin student and fan Summary: 5 Stars
I found this video both enjoyable and informative. My son's violin teacher recommended it and I understand now that it's had a very positive impact on him as well as being enjoyable for the rest of us. If you don't understand French make sure to turn on the English subtitles for the brief moments of French. The subtitles do not intrude except when French is used.
Movie Review: Wonderful, just one little complaint... Summary: 5 Stars
When I watched this on PBS there were English subtitles for Ivry Gitlis's commentary, but the dvd did not have them when he spoke in French. Gitlis is such a wonderful musician, and I remember his comments as being really insightful, but I really, really wish I could know what he was saying each time I watch the dvd.
Movie Review: Very Good, not perfect Summary: 5 Stars
As a violinist, I have watched this video many times, probably over 10. Every time, I have learned something new from it. My only complaint would be that there are not enough clips for some of the performers like Heifetz, and too many videos of Menuhin. The sound quality of these recordings are all very good.
Movie Review: Devil's thrill ! Summary: 5 Stars
This is an extrordinary document that preserves for the memory of the future the craft of some of the most notabe soloists of this instrument. The possibility to watch and admire the artistic height of these violinist in just one DVD is a true Gods gifts.
Absoluetly recommended.
